600 3D canopy: $95; DX: $73
500 3D canopy is $65; DX $65

Are there alternative canopy's too choose from? I know even thinking it is just plain cheap-ass but $95 for a canopy is ridiculous!

Would any of these fit the Logo's?

T-Rex 600 plastic canopy $25; fiberglass $39.
Hurricane 550 $25

It's actually $99 USD from rcflightstore.

Are they cheaper other places?

Would the Logo 14 canopy fit?

Me bad I thought you were looking for the 5003D, they are $64.99 at same store you linked to. If you are used to ALign Canopies then yes these will seem more expensive, I do suggest then never looking into Minirature Aircraft parts prices then, lol.

Its $65 for the plastic canopy and $85 for the f/g on the L5003D... and yes I think that is a ridiculous price also!

As previously posted (http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=68532)- yes the TREX600N canopies do fit and fit quite well BUT part of what makes the Logos so great is their power to weight ratio and the Align canopies come in much heavier than the Mikado proper part. It's also worth pointing out that though they appear thin and flimsy the Mikado canopies are readily repairable - tears can be fixed with CA and glass reinforced packing tape for plastic and polyester or epoxy resins and GF or CF tape for the GF canopies. I thought my 6003D canopy was confetti after a tail loss but it came up surprisingly good (http://www.helifreak.com/showpost.php?p=617679&postcount=13)and I must have fixed the 5003D plastic 3-4 times including pushing out dents !

I was planning on creating a mould and popping a few canopies out but it looks like materials alone would cost me in the neighborhood of $20 per canopy plus the cost of making the mould. I may still do this but I am unsure.

Please do it!! I'm begging you.

I would have to sell these at least for $50 to make it worth while to me. However I will only make enough to capitilize my investment. Resin and cloth should run me a few hundred so after 20 canopies, I would have to stop. The only question is do I want to put the time into this? I have a 7 month old daughter so time is at a premium.

I say this is a good time to start teaching her a useful skill. Bonding time over helis!! By the time she is a teen ager she will be to into flying helis than to mess with boys.

I thought about this. However at seven months, she is more interested in eating the resin and fiberglass cloth. Now if I can get her to do just that and poop a canopy, I am in good shape.

I was also thinking that I can offer a kevlar canopy to those who are interested in something more exotic.

So how many of you are interested? If there are enough who would get one or two, I can start the project. The last thing I would want to do is make a dozen and no one wants them.

What would be the benefits of kevlar? I know nothing of the material, please explain.

From my wing bagging days, we used kevlar because it was stiffer than fiberglass. So for a canopy, it makes very little to no difference. I figured someone would want something more exotic. I can even do a full carbon one to completely block all RF signals to the receiver.:P

I'd be interested in your Logo 600 3D canopies! No question about it. And I know others that would be as well.

Thanks,
Ryan

The Esky Emart Canopy comes in fiberglass, painted and clear=costed with cooling vents and it fits the 6003d and 5003d live it was made for it. These canopies can be purchased for $25.00. Not typo, $25.00. I will post pics later of the fit on my 6003d.

Putting other brand canopies on this heli makes me wanna puke, seriously. I for one love the way the new Mikados look.

I didn't have anything to use except a TRex 600e canopy the other day. It wasn't a perfect fit (it's a bitt loose at the skids) but it was enough to fly with and maintain visibility.

I think I heard that the 600n was a fair fit. I don't do much with nitro so I wouldn't know.

I too prefer the Mikado canopy, but the price is ridiculous. I'm not sure if I'll order a stock one or not. I need one for my Logo 600 and 500 3D at this very moment.

I have a box of the Esky canopies, if anyone wants to try them. I will sell them for $27.00 shipped.

They fit like a glove!

How about some pics of the Esky canopy on your Logo?

Lets see some pics of the Esky canopy, if its the one I saw its not a bad looking canopy for $27. Yes I love the way the 5003D canopy looks that $27 price might make me change my mind ;)
