I found out today that KR's Hobbies has CNC aluminium parts for the FP head comming in.
They can be found here (http://www.xtremecx2.com/servlet/the-Helicopter-Upgrades-cln-Honey-Bee-Fixed-Pitch/Categories).
Cheers!

I was reading a comment somewhere else that since these pieces are stronger the next weak point the the center hub.
Now the center hub seems to be out of stock in a lot of places and the price varies from $5 to over $12. A possible option is the use the GWS center hub (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHHB4) FD5002-004 which is suppose to be stronger.
I'm not sure if it fits or if is stronger but I got one on order and I'll check it out

I've read the GWS center hub is stronger because the section holding the two bearings isn't split like the ESky / Compy center hub. If you use this hub, you'll need to grind out the spot in your rotor head where it expects the center hub to be split, or you can get the GWS head (and stiffener as well) too.
I want to try these parts too but I need to transplant everything to a new frame once it arrives before I can think of doing anything else. My next project (after the rebuild) will be to Spektrumize it.

I don't know if the center hub is compatible with the HBFP but I do know the head does swap as I have had a GWS head on my HBFP.

You can buy the head to go with the center hub too. Tower Hobbie carries all of the GWS parts that HBFP owners usually use.

All the parts have come in! :)
I'll take some pictures of the parts and post them some time this weekend.

Here is detail of the metal rotor head. It comes with a bunch of shims for the blades.
Also, it looks like the GWS center hub will snap in with out modifcations.

Now if we can find the GWS center hubs for less than Tower's price of $10 each...

Well I'm hoping they don't break as often. But now that the center hub is the weak link:shock:.....
The HBFP metal head:Bang project is backed up. The basement heli lab is overhauling an AXE CP with digital servos and a gy240 and keeping a TREX flying. This week is looking good to clear the backlog.

By the way I was suprised to see that the rotor had a head button!

Do the blades sandwich between the CF stiffener and the alloy head??

Yes and there is a ball bearing for the blade attachment

I put the metal head :Bangon the HBFP. With the ball links that I did a couple of weeks ago ( Z Bends are EVIL! ) and this there is NO slop in the head any more. One thing that did not work is that I got some M24 blades and it did not have the head speed to lift off. So I out on the ESKY blades. Here are the Pics:

Also the GWS Center hub needs the GWS adapter (http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHHD7&P=Z). It will not work with the ESKY part.
I'll order it the next time.
For a flight review it seems more stable. But now it seems like there is less head speed. The added rotational weight may be a contribution to this.
Next up for project Metal Head:Bang is a Slo Max motor and a ESKY HH Gyro

CORRECTION: I was wrong about the ball bearings. It's just a raised flange.

Super Skids. (http://www.super-skids.com/)
Say Mudge... Don't forget to get an 11T pinion for that Slo-Max.
My newly built, but nowhere near as sexy, Feepie is about to take to the sky. I'm hoping I can finish all the household must-do's for the day early enough to get a hop ot two in.

Actually they are the Super skids clones from Heli Direct (http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=38_235_256&products_id=846).
