OK, it was one of those Ebay impulse buys.

I now have a Kalt gasser. I think, from what little descriptions I have seen online, it is a Baron GS, perhaps and Alpha Baron. It is a black frame version with shaft driven tail and 23cc Zenoah engine.

It is in almost new condition. The only thing stopping it from being in better shape being the very brittle and flimsey canpy have some small cracks (it really is an exceedingly lame canopy for such a heli).

The seller, although obviously a heli pilot and owner of many different helis, didn't know all that much about it and seemed to think parts are readily available but that doesn't look like the case from my google searches so far.

Sooooooo, if any Kalt owners out there have some info on this bird, source of parts etc. it would be appreciated. It looks great but if parts will no longer be available then it is potentially a museum piece and I'll have to sling it back on Ebay or get the seller to take it back.

Thanks,
trillian

The Kalt GS Baron was a great (and quite expensive) machine in its time. It is a bit heavy for 3D and the motor that came with it supplied low horsepower (equivelant of the old style points/capacitor ignition G-23). The model should still provide some fun and parts may be available scattered about on the internet or as old stock at some shops(?). I doubt that you will find new type replacement parts being manufactured from Kalt or aftermarket folks.

Good luck

Thanks John,

I'd like to have some documentation on it. I was suprised to not find any kind of Kalt 'tribute' website out there with info or anything at all about the GS whatsoever.

It seems to have a zenoah 23cc engine. It does have points and cap ignition but it does have the same style carb I see on the newer ones. I think you can change out the ignition setup for the electronic type.

Anyway, I think I'll hang onto it and get it flying but then if I really want something with a future I'll get a century predator or something.
