I'm considering each of these motors for my future TREX 700 build. Any thoughts as to power, ease of use, and longevity of each motor?
thx
John

Sorry Corona, wasn't trying to be an a-hole, but this forum only has 20 threads in it, and one of them was just that!

Buy the YS. It's cheaper, suppose to be a little more user friendly, and is suppose to make the same power with the Hatori SB19 pipe that Todd Bennett developed. Todd also recommends using a Enya #3 glow plug.

See: http://www.freestyle3d.com/

Also see: www.yspartsandservice.com I called them about parts availability and service, which they said is no problem. I've dealt with them years ago for 'planker' engines and they were always first rate, plus you can actually talk to a human being which gives it that "personal touch". I'm not too sure about OS, but I think you have to deal with Tower Hobbies on that front...? No thanks. Just my own personal opinion. Take it or leave it.

ok and sorry if I over-reacted. I'm at work and knew I saw some thrread comparing the two, then I got PO'd b/c I couldn't find them searching. Didn't have the patience left to track the threads down, but I see one just after I posted a few threads down as you stated :(.

I don't mean to take up people's time or annoy them, I just had a question and didn't see what I needed to in searching
thx

What about webra engines ? they seem to be very powerful according to their specs.

If we're going to talk alternative engines, how about the Nova-Rossi?

well I picked up an OS used from ebay that is supposidly near new
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150220773994&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=005

hopefully this gets me started and I'll see about maybe getting a YS SR later. Right now I can't stomach $180 for a muffler. I know it's silly with all the other $ I've spent in this hobby in the past few months, but I just can't get my mind around spending that much on something so in my mind simple as a muffler.

Hoping in the mean time till the 700 launches I can tighten the nut behind the sticks :YeaBaby:

I hate you ;)
the SR looks mighty nice and I hear it runs sweet :). Combined with the Hatori muffler I'm sure you'll make awesome power. I picked up the used OS b/c I got what I thought was a great deal on a 5 tank old motor, and I'll wait until the dust settles on which is the absolute best and swap out the OS at that point. Oh and I cheaped out on the muffler and got a Mavrick 90 muffler b/c I didn't want to spend $180 on a muffler yet. Waiting to see if the CY Mp5's come back in stock for 90's and how the Redline 96 or 106 is going to be, as well as how I like my yet to be run TT redline 53.
