Does any one keep and replace these servos, because I can't wait to get rid of them.
First thing to go wrong on my heli was mid flight failure of the elevator servo:arggg:, and after my first crash, the third test after reassembly, both aileron servos failed on the bench.
I was testing my swash mixing for sound operation. All three servos have failed(mysteriously).
The HS65MG's seem to be the talk of the town. How's the fit? Is there a cheaper solution to this problem?
What have your experiences been in this respect?
Should I replace or upgrade?

Upgrade, or you'll just be replacing and crashing due to them. hs65's are tight fit alot of us including me went with the JR package 3 ds285's and 1 3400G for 160.00 they plop right in NO mods needed and performance, your jaw will hit the floor!

Repaired and flew the stock servos for a few months before I recently had a crash due to servo failure. That was enough to put me over the edge.. Went with 65mg's and an s9257. Couldnt be happier since.

Where did you get the 285/3400 combo? Thanks, Dooley

Do they make a metal gear set for those?
Specs look good, price is okay, no mods is a big plus, but nylon gears is still unreliable for mild 3D training. Crashes are inevitable and nylon gears strip easily.

I'm sure they do, you can buy them with metal gears already installed ds285mg

I've replaced mine with hs65mg's and I couldn't be more happy with the results. The torque and speed is higher than the 285's.
I would have bought the 285's if my local shop had 'em, but they only had 2, and I was headed out of town.
I took the hs65mg's shaved a li'l plastic and put it in the air. At first I had to relearn my throws on the stick. They're amazingly responsive.
I've got the 9257 which actually has balanced my bird to center, with it mounted on the tail.

They do sell a replacement metal gear set for the ds285. I have not tried it yet but the folks at the lhs tell me it's a direct replacement for the nylon gears.
