SE is $319 with belt tail and fibre glass canopy. SD has shaft driven tail and light weight plastic canopy for $369. Probably better value to buy the $319 version plus the SD upgrade kit for $55 and the canopy for $9.

I'd agree with that. Get one, fly it a lot, then upgrade when you want. Save the money, you may want more batteries, or version 3 might show up, you never know...

Hard to get a firm answer on that. We've seen some nice 3d video with SD tail and people who upgrade seem to think it's fine but no rave reviews and as of now readyheli doesn't sell the SD version anymore so who knows why that is.

Since when do they not sell it? (http://www.readyheli.com/203915_Gaui_Hurricane_200_Helicopter_Kit_Shaft_Dri _p/203915.htm) Just because it's out of stock doesn't mean they don't sell it anymore ... just means they're out of stock ... :P

Heli Cuzz,

Good to chat with you!

I assume that the question was directed to me, but hard to tell in real-time threads though...

What I meant was, the GAUI 200 is a good value, but I doubt that adding *bling* will increase that for you. The direct drive tail looks cool, but even I have not bought one. Not because I can't, but because I can't yet justify the difference with my level of flying.

I'd say get the basic 200, forget the extras, and go fly.

There's always new bling to distract you. You can, and some do, nothing except chase the latest thing.

Save your money, practice, then you'll be ready when (whatever it is) comes around.

I would stay away from the direct drive until people start reporting the issues or successes they are having with them. Personally I haven't seen anyone saying its awesome and holds up well to crashes and since I am guaranteed to crash again I'd like to know how it holds up before I try it out. I can't imagine it not being heavier, way heavier than the stock belt drive system and the lighter you can make this heli the better as far as I am concerned.

Daily, it seems, Rotor, but it's just tax-time, right? ;-)

We've all got to be adult about this. I've been thinking about the shaft drive 200, but with the time I have available, and now with three really nice birds coming up, I'm going have to get serious for a while, and hope to post future videos of my improving flying abilities...

<click>

I'm in!, I'll take three!! GIMMEE, GIMMEE, GIMMEE, YYEEHHAA!!!! Carbon skids!!, Shaft drive with cool little ball bearings... American made 200, with a 20amp motor )**(&**&&^$^%$^-=1@@###!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<click>

But this might work, if there is a shaft drive upgrade kit available. I'd like to have a spare tailboom to save ordering time, as I know someday I'll bend this little aluminum boom. To that end, it would be nice if I could find a shaft upgrade kit at a reasonable price.

I've ordered twice from Flying-Hobby, paid the extra $6 for express shipping, and delivery time to California has been very good -- four days in both cases. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this vendor again, even half a world away!

Don't get anything from hong kong. The only thing you can count on it it's from hong kong is that it's probably fake. i've gotten counterfeit servos from hong kong (I live there).

The guy who runs flying hoby is well known. Lots of people have bought gauis from there, including my self, and got them in 4 days.

You guys are a really, really bad influence on me ;-)

No, I'm gonna wait on the shaft, pretty much have to, as I've got the 450 and now the 600.
One shaft leads to another you know, and with the cost of upgrading the fleet, I could get another 200, ...hmm, with the shaft? AARRG!

They just released the shaft for the Trex 500. Look's like I'll be skipping the Guai TT for now.

LOL maybe you should ask finless for a buzzkill gaui sub forum?! I dont know what the rex has to do with the Gaui and why a rex video wouldn't belong in a rex forum :thinking

Err, well, a Buzzkill forum sounds pretty good to me!
I'm sure it would be fun, as well as educational, not sure of the rating, but who cares...

Heck I'd kick in, say like for advertising on Mythbusters or other quasi-reality shows.
We pull together, and give him the bucks to do <whatever> with heli's. *That* would most likely be rather interesting!
