Quick question....the metal shims (washers) go between the o-ring and the step washer (on the feathering shaft between the head and grip, correct?

Didn't see them on the parts explosion.

Yep.. It goes oring, shims, step washer (with the step facing out) then grip.

I was wondering....

I hear that this is a typical setup for a "soft" response. Most beginners don't appreciate a very snappy heli.

Adding shims there will stiffen the head and improve response similar to dampeners. I'm waiting for someone to make dampeners or at least different width and density o-rings. Such a pain dealing with all of those parts. I just use bearing grease (clear silicon type) to keep the parts from falling all over.

Yep, the step washer contacts the bearing directly, with the step facing the bearing. The shims sit in hard against the oring. Although I am having problems with my orings starting to shred after one pack at hover, so I think they over did it a little. Mine had 4 shims per side from the factory.

Thanks everyone! Finally got mine back in the air a couple of days ago.

Interesting...I just read through several threads where people seemed to be missing an inner or outer race for the thrust bearing, a couple of folks had missing or double step washers, shims in the wrong place, etc direct from the factory. Fortunately mine was set up properly (per the picture at least). I would check it out....especially if the inner/outer race is showing up missing. I would think that the washer (#27) that would be potentially against the bearing would not be able to handle the strain for too long before it bent leading to a seized blade grip.....

Does anyone know if the Align hard damper o-rings will work here? Lemme know. Mine didn't came with the inner race and the shims are in the wrong place. I will correct mine today.
