I have seen that a 30 heli can take up to a 46 engine (not sure where, could be my manual or internet). Can I fit a 46 engine in my Raptor 30 ? If so, do I need to change anything ? Also, I have never seen one where I live. Do they exist ? Or is there some sort of upgrade I do to my TT39 ?

My first heli was a Nexus 30 with an OS 46 engine. This heli was given to me so I do not know if it required a different motor mount. The rest of the heli was all original 30 parts so I would suspect for a Raptor it would be the same.

jakesvdm,
You will need to change the engine mount methinks.
But While you are at it, why not go all the way to a 50, change the mount and the gearing, then you can put a longer boom on, longer blades and hey presto - you've got yourself a full blown 50.
AFAIK, you will need
engine + muffler.
engine mount.
main gear set (10T 85T)
as a minimum, but you'd be better off adding
tail boom,
belt
rotors
to your list. I think thats all.

Yep, thanks, for tail rotor.

Thanks, I'm going to go all the way to 50. But I was just curious. I can't remember ever seeing a 46, but I've read about it.

I seem to remember that 46's were popular when I was just getting into helis first time around, about 8~10 years ago.
Actually, I built one of my Raptor's with a TT46ProH about a couple of years ago. The heli was a 50 kit but I didn't want or need a thirsty Hyper at the time and the LHS was selling off this new in box TT46. I thought I had bought a lemon when I started reading up on it later but the engine has been brilliant. Plenty enough power and 15 minutes plus header on flight times running on 23% nitro. In 2 years of heavy use, I have only replaced one set of bearings and one piston / liner but spares are hard to get. Never had a flame-out either.
Just put a Funtech HN50S 3DTE muffler on it and it is running fantastic, with enough power for loops rolls and flips. Of course, not as much power as my primary Raptor with the YS50ST + Hatori #522, but more than enough to be a hooligan with.
