The spindle (feathering) shaft on a Blade CPP is about as hard as cooked spaghetti...
I tried a "Micro Heli hard shaft", not any better then stock .
I'm wondering if I can heat temper a shaft myself :dontknow
Any thoughts on this.

I wouldn't.
Every heli needs a weak link somewhere to keep the cost of rebuild down when you crash.
The two best weak links (imo) are feathering shaft and plastic servo gears.

I know what you mean about a weak link. I once had a crash with a set of "crash resistant plastic blades" hung. Blades came through without damage, even though they cut the tail boom in half . I'm sticking to woodies now, a lot easier to replace.
I find feathering shafts bend too easily. A mishap that may just nick a blade means the shaft is most likely bent. In a bad crash the plastic rotor head will give, hardened shaft or not.

you know I thought about the same thing myself, let me know how you come out, HAR HAR. Well the only reason I cant try it out yet is because my dad wants me to build his static B-47 (he's got cancer)Might be the last thing I do for him.
