Hi,

I am wondering on how many RPMs an OS 50 hyper idles. Mine engine is running fine on 550 rpms (at least that is what the GV-1 is saying), but then the roton on my Raptor 50 is starting to spin slowly. If i lower the throttle using the trim the engine will quit. Is it the clutch that is the problem or is the engine not set up correcttly

Thanks

Sorry to see no one has responded to your questions as of this date.
So I'll try to assist you. Basicly you are fine.
If your blades are just barely turning at your present idle setting and you can stop them with your hand on top head buttom. Then I would not worry about it too much.
You must idle where you must to keep the engine running.
It could be, however that you may just be a tad our of alignment with the engine to clutch bell set-up. If you can turn the clutch bell by finger or hand and not feel any drag of the clutch in the bell then you should be good to go. Or the clutch to clutch liner spaceing may be just a little close. Or your clutch may be just a little out of round. Lots of people use a dial point indicator to check the clutch for "roundness" when bolted to the engine.
As well as checking their fan with the indicator.
It just might be that after a few flights the clutch liner will get a little wear and then your blades will not turn at all with you current idle setting.
Might I recommend checking out "raptortechnique" and "littlerotors" web sites.
If you are not already familier with them. Lots of good information there.
Regards

Thanks for the reply

I ended up bying a new clutch. After the new clutch was fitted everything was back to normal again. The engine is ideling fine and the blades are not spinning before i start thottleing up.

I would also advise checking that your liner isnt to thin on your clutch bell as if it is the clutch has to spring further and thus will be more likely to fail with the symptoms your are having.

hope this helps
