I just purchased a new Futaba 7C and need assistance setting up the idle up switch. My radio will recognize the idle up switch, but when it turns it on the head speed of the helicopter doesn't change. Do I need to adjust the throttle curve for the idle up mode? Since I'm new to this I do not know how to do this? Can anyone help me by giving me directions to do this. Thanks,

Yes, you need to adjust the throttle and pitch curves for each idle up mode. Go to the second menu (Press menu button twice) and you will see th-crv and p-crv menus. There you can set the throttle curve for normal, idle1, idle2 and pitch curve for normal, idle1, idle2 and throttle hold modes.

Ok. Can you tell me what the standard pitch curve and throttle curve in an idle up mode for 3D flying? I am flying a TRex600e. I am trying to set the pitch curve and throttle curve and don't know the standard is? Thanks for your help!!!

There is no standard. You fine tune it for your flying sytle and your helicopter setup. I use something like this for my electrics.
N-P: 35-42-50-75-100
I1-P:0-25-50-75-100
I2-P:0-25-50-75-100
H-P:20-35-50-75-100

N-T:0-10-30-50-70-90
I1-T:100-90-90-90-100
I2-T:100-95-95-95-100

I fly in idle2 almost all of the time.

Hi,

Thanks for these writes up. I'm a bit confused.
If I'm in N(N) mode then I setup
P1 0 P2 35 P3 50 P4 75 P5 100

Now suppose I want to go inverted and use IDLE UP 2
How do I tell the transmitter to do a - 4 pitch ?
Do I still set
P1 0 or do I set P1 to something else and how does the transmitter know
that this is a negative pitch ??

Thanks,
Josh

I1-T:100-90-90-90-100
I2-T:100-95-95-95-100

I fly in idle2 almost all of the time.

I first setup my helicopter so that at 0% the blades are at -8 degrees (for example).
Then I setup 25% to be at -4 degrees (for example). Then I setup 50% to 0 degrees
(for example). Then I setup 75% to be at +4 then I setup 100% to be at +8 degrees.

Now for the corresponding throttle in normal throttle, I make sure that -8 is 0% (throttle)
-4 is 10% (throttle) and setup 0 to 30% and then setup +4 to 70% and then setup pitch +8 to 90%.

Now for the correspoinding throttle in idle 2, I setup
-8 at 100% throttle, -4 at 95% throttle 0 pitch at 95% and then set +4 95% and then set +8 to 100%.

Is this correct. If it is its really goofy. It would be so much easier to be able to enter in -100% -30% etc rather then go through all these steps.

One last thing, how do I tell it that I want pitch curves to be exponential around P3 and linear response at P1 P2 and P4 and P5. The reason is that I want a "softspot" so that at center position the throttle isn't as responsive and its easier to hover????

Thanks!

Just a quick note, but each Idle up must be un INHibted in the throttle curve menu or even if you play with the pitch curve numbers they won't do anything.

Can you provide a little bit more of an explanation. I don't understand un INHibted mode??

Idle up has one of three states.

INH or Inhibited
OFF
or ON

When its inhibited you need to change it to either ON or OFF in the transmitter. If the switch is in normal, and you uninhibit Idle1 it will show OFF, if you move the switch to Idle1 it will show ON.

To use the Idle 1 or Idle 2 pitch or throttle curve they need to be set in the throttle curve menu from INH which is the defualt, to ON (or OFF depending on the flight mode switch position)
