You have to install boot camp with Windows. Many people having good success that way

Boot Camp is part of 10.5. In the utilities folder. You will also need a fresh copy of Windows. Boot camp will partition your hard drive. It works easy to install.

Just be sure the Windows you buy is not an OEM or an upgrade version. Also, you may want to read this before setting up boot camp: http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/Boot_Camp_Install-Setup.pdf

The OEM version of Windows works fine for the Mac, just make sure your system is up to running it if you have an older system. I installed the OEM version of Vista Home Premium last night on a MacBook Pro with 2 gigs of Ram and it is performing as expected. The biggest concern would be getting a legit copy of windows, definitely avoid ebay.

Well, I was only going by what Apple says in their documentation about using Boot Camp. In there, they say not to use an OEM version.

No harm intended on my part Zagiman, I just wanted to make sure he didn't spend the extra money on a pretty box (the OEM version comes in a plain white box).

I use realFlight G4, on my macbook pro core due 2.2 with 2gig ram and running vista, works PERFECT, smooth too.
24" iMac bootcamp user here too. Shame there isnt any VM yet that can handle graphics properly yet.

You can use an OEM version but bootcamp will not install anything prior to XP SP2 I used an OEM CD but I had to follow directions on the MS site to create a bootable slipstream install CD that contained Service Pack 2. Worked fine. I am using Phoenix and G3 on the Mac now no problem.

I am a mac lover also (will never buy another PC). I just ordered the Phoenix sim and plan on using Boot Camp and XP (many people are doing it without a problem if you have the appropriate minimum requirements on your mac).
I recently found A NATIVE MACINTOSH OSX HELI SIM:YeaBaby: It is not the best (physics etc) but allows me to practice my muscle memory. I am using the demo which has limited options but works for its purpose. You can buy the full version for around $100 but the free demo is fine. You need to setup the controller once you install it (directions are on the site) but I am having a lot of fun with it and it is helping me a lot because I am a noob at heli flight. Phoenix is much more "real life" but a pain with the whole boot camp thing. I pasted the link below:

Let me know what you think

Hello everyone, having trouble getting phoenix started. Trying to do this cheaply but I think its backfired. I have an intel based imac, boot camp beta 1.3 (found it on the web, don't want to buy leopard just for the latest). Bought windows xp pro sp2 off ebay, its running but have a sneaky feeling this is where my problem may be. Phoenix is downloaded but when I double click icon I get a phoenixrc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Emailed phoenix, they said it could be a driver issue. So is bootcamp 1.3 not the best or is it my ebay xp that may be the culprit? I've also resized xp to look the best but when I try to open the sim the window and dialog box are huge. Not that computer savvy so any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just went through a similar torture trying to get phoenix up and running. I tried first on an old pc laptop and got the same error you are getting. It was due to the fact that my video card was not good enough for the sim to run (it can also mean your driver for your video card is not updated if your basic video card actually has the minimum spec to run the sim). Two things to do:
1) find the file below and email it to phoenix and see if they can give you an answer. This is what they sent me:
Phoenix uses its own error reporting system that creates a diagnostic text file every time the simulator is run. This file is calleddiagnostic_output.txt and is kept in your My Documents/PhoenixRC folder.
Please can you e-mail us this file so we can more easily and quickly solve your problem.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Best Regards
PhoenixRC Support
2) Find out the video card you have and email phoenix and see if it is sufficient by doing the below and email phoenix the info. They are very helpful.
You can find this out by doing the following:
- Right-click an area of the desktop and select properties
- Select the right-most tab from the top of the dialog box, marked settings
The installed card is displayed under the image of the monitor, and the text "display:"
I hope this helps. I would also suggest downloading the latest version of phoenix (1.05j). I struggled a little but finally got it working on my MBP intel core 2 duo in parallels running xp. I also had to set the screen resolution in xp and phoenix to 1024x768. good luck
