I hope you enjoy

I always wondered how the 450 autoed before I brought one so if anyone has the same questions about the 500 maybe this helps.

How much negative pitch do you have set-up for autos?

Nice!

The 500 auto's great, much easier then the 450.
I don't have more then about -3 degrees coming down. The throttle curve for TH is setup for -7 to +12.

Great Job!

I have been autoing the 450 for a long time now but you have to be precise at the last minute flaring. I run -5 degrees pitch on all my helis in throttle hold and usually give all negative (especially for the 450 and 500) for most of the trip down). Then I will hover around -2 to -1 degrees until I flare. With less negative pitch, I'm able to get a bigger "sweet spot" while doing the autos. If you have more negative pitch, this area where there is minimal amount of head speed loss is harder to find (I feel).

Keep practicing. I just wish the 500 had some gorilla gear equivalent for rough landings. They help a lot on my 450.

You can put the white 3D landing gear from the T-rex 600 on instead.
Done that myself, as a transission from the training gear to the very narrow stock landing gear. It is a lot wider and flexes quite a lot too.

All you have to do is to drill some new holes.

Thanks for all the nice comments and glad you enjoyed the video.

I have +12 to -12 straight line for all my curves idle 1,2 normal and hold for auto's

I agree that the "sweet spot" or place that gives the maximum headspeed during the descent is more difficult to find on the smaller heli's but the 500 is much easier to auto than the 450 in my opinion (just check my videos of autoing the 450 in comparison there are two of them on youtube and one ends in the model shop!) I find that carrying as much forward speed into the flare helps me to do the autos and maximise the hang time.

I really like this 500 what a great machine they designed :-)
