Hi all, I just got myself a used CX2 and would like to see if anyone out there has ever tried to put some B/L's into them?

I have on hand-2 CC10's and could easily get a couple cheapie Faigao motors and add a Telebee gyro out of another bird I have sitting around to complete the setup. A bit far-fetched, or realistic in idea? Links to other projects maybe?

Think about it... Do you realy want to spend time and money on something that you'll grow out of soon? I did the same thing, I got a blade CX2 and started to upgrade it but then when I got a Blade cp and I realized that the ccpm helis had so much more to offer. Trust me and get a Trex or Blade cp. You'll see that all the CX's are for is training... Sorry for the rant but you'll have MUCH more fun with a more capable heli. Michael

For me , I dont have a CX2 but I have a esky Lama that flys kinda almost as good but I like it because I can fly it in the house , have a good time and continue to improve my head in hovering ect ...

I have a Blade 400 that I am flying outside when the wind is not so strong ... Still have lots
of skill to improve on ,, then if i am still in the hobby when i get better i will upgrade to a Trex ,, in
the mean time it seems the blade 400s are holding value in the used market still ...

Actually ...yes. Hence the reason for the thread! lol I already fly the Trex and can do quite a bit more than just hover. I've wanted a CX for a long time and I'm a tinkerer, so the time invested is really no bother. I already have most of the stuff sitting around anyways, so all in good fun.

Someone on RC Groups has made a brushless cx.

In that case I understand. I just didn't understand the circumstance.:smokin:

No problem dude! I know it's a hair-brained operation, but when you don't have much else to do with your time, you can really get creative. I suppose the money is the only thing in the way, but I got the whole deal on trade, so it was all almost virtually free.

So as it turns out, the 12mm B/L and CC10 will end up being a really good setup. Much smaller and a whole lot lighter even with full wires attached. It'll end up being even a few grams lighter once I get all the extra wires/servo leads and other junk out of the way.
I'll have to drill some different holes or fabricate 2 motor mont plates because they just about fall through where the old motors were. I'll also have to get some new pinions because the stockers are about 1mm larger in diameter.

The Eflite 3s 800 mAh batteries fit in nicely, but I had to cut out the bottom of the fuselage and modify the battery tray a bit. I'm just hoping I'll be ble to stuff a little more battery in there once I can get it all together and start working on getting better batteries.

I always use my Cx2 as a test bed for imagination, don't let the critics get to you. I now have a gorgeous CX2 with ALL the goodies cause I can afford it, now I know what I can do to a B-400! Brushless sounds good, let me know if you pull it off. :noteworthy When I'm stressed out from CP heli issues I just pull out the CX2 and relax and enjoy the fruits of my labor. Heard something from my LHS that there may be a larger (outdoor?) CX coming....

Outdoor CX huh, sounds awesome! I've had mine out in the wind and the only fault I can find in it is simply not having good enough controls. I understand that it's set up for hovering and a tad bit of FF, but it's a blast to ripping around with the CX because of how responsive it is, it just lacks the confidence inspiring controls like on my DF52 or Trex. I don't understand why the swash is at such a weird angle. I would think that if it were at a 90* it would work a bit better. Oh well, I'm not an engineer just yet. Maybe one day?

I'll probably end up doing the conversion next month sometime. The stock motors are OK, and the Extreme 180's are turning out to be a flop despite what anyone says about them. They just don't have the guts that the Lama motors do. Until then, I'll save my pennies and just use the brushed ones until it's time to install the B/L's.
