View Full Version : Another crash free flight(just barely)
Well I told you guys about my crash last weekend, so after that I upgraded to HS-65mg's on cyclic. I still have the stock gyro and tail servo for now. This was my last flight for today. Sorry about the sun glare. It was hard for me to see and windy, but it went OK.
Watch at about 1:40 I get retarded and almost lose it completely, I was shaking and my heart pounding after that one. But I just went up a little higher and collected myself and finished the pack.

Here is another much better quality copy of the same video.

I really miss my Align carbon fiber blades, they sound and fly so much better than stock woodies, oh well I'll get some before next weekend.
Hope you guys had a fun weekend of crash free flying.

That was very nice. Lucky you have a big playground there. Here in my place were houses and freeways are. I have a park but there was a local car show. DAMN
Yes it is nice, behind my track of houses it is undeveloped for 100's of acres. But I know one day it will be all houses, and my big private flying field will be gone. Hopefully that will not happen for quite a while.
Here is another short video, just so you can see how far the undeveloped land goes for, I am lucky to live here.

How strong was that wind? Sounds strong for an open area like that. Are you still using the stock blades?
It was pretty windy, yes in that video I am using stock blades, because I broke my carbon fibers last weekend. I will get some more before next weekend.
The wind was probably about 15mph with 25mph gusts.

So how long were you flying with the stock servos before you upgraded to MG? Also, do you ever plan on trying to put a video camera or still camera underneath for fun? Will it hold the same amount of weight as a stock 450?

Nice recovery there. Hey, I keep hearing about bad factory setups so how close or far off was your setup right out of the box?

Mine is not flyin out of the box. It took me a week to get her of the ground. And a few weeks after that I replaced the stock servos in the cyclic. Now its a hover machine.
Out of the box my swash was not level, servo horns were not 90 when servos were centered, pitch range was -6/+14. Not even close to being right. I have fixed all of that, upgraded the cyclic servos and changed my throttle curve to 0,50,80,90,100 in normal mode. I think it flies much better now. RTF doesn't mean that it's set up perfectly out of the box, just means that it will fly, but probably poorly.

No punt to you sd0 but it says in the box test flown from the factory. So I knew it will hover but it didn't, it went full left and smack the wall big time.
Don't believe everything you read, I know it says that on the box, but think about it for a second or two. Do you really think they test fly every single B400 at the factory, I don't think so. They might test fly 1 in a 100 or 1 in a 1000, but I really doubt they test fly them all. Also what is the criteria for a "test flight", that it spools up and everything moves in the right direction? Or it hovers? I would doubt they try FFF, or invert. The statement "Test flown at the factory" is very vague and leaves a lof of ambiguity as to what exactly it means. Still a good helicopter but every new B400 owner/pilot should check it out for themselves.

You are definitely right, and I agree to all you said. It sould say randomly tested, fly at your own risk.
