I just finished building my gaui, and I really, really badly want to fly it, but I don't know if I'll be able to. How do I know when I should attempt to fly my gaui. I know I'm going to crash, and I'm not that worried about it, but I just don't want to get way over my head.

Slap on a set of training gear - the one for the CX2 fits perfectly, mounted with four tie wraps - and start your hover practice. Do not attempt to fly in your (small) living room, because the down wash from the rotor will hit the floor, then the walls and finally your little heli. Get outside on very calm days or find time/space in your local gym (or whatever)

PS: I can fly my Gaui outside on calm days
I can not fly it in my living room

So it is flyable with training gear, and with someone can fly a robins r22 coaxial heli with his eyes closed, and has a little practice with a t-rex 450 se v2. Thanks. I'll run down to the LHS and get some training gear on friday. Advise from others is appreciated :dontknow. Thanks again.

Every time I hover my 200, before hand I ponder the question, "am I ready?" I've practiced hovering probably 15-20 times since I got the 200 and I still second guess myself. Of course I don't get to practice as often as some and 15-20 hover sessions isn't that many. I am much better than I was the first time though, first time ended in a crash, as did the second attempt. Radd's has you take things very slowly and since I started sticking to those lessons hover practice got a lot less expensive.

Glad it worked for you, but what exactly were those lessons...? ;)

That's where I'm at right now. Once the weather smooths out around here I'll be ready for forward flight.

If I remember correctly, you can fly your trex pretty well? you should have no problem with the gaui :) And yeah, outside space with no wind... or a really big inside space for your first hover & setup test. I think you'll find it to fly a lot like your trex, but sped up, so you have to be more on it. Training gear is never a bad idea, just loose it as soon as you feel ready to :)
