View Full Version : Warped Main Gear

The main gear with my 500 3D, the mod 7 one, is slightly warped. When I spin it around, it is clearly not in a flat plane. I know that the autorotation hub is seated flat, this warp was apparent when the gear was laying on the table when I first got the kit.
I assume the herringbone pattern will keep everything in line when running, but I just wanted to make sure my issue was not unique or a potential trouble maker. I will set the motor up with the center point of the pinion's pattern midway of the variation of the gears rotation.
I welcome input from all.

This has probily happened because you have done the screws up too tight on the gear hub.
All you need is alot of locktite and seet them in untill the gap dissapears then an extra 1/2 turn. Just so it hold the gear but doesnt push down on it to much.
Another thing that can cause the gear to look like that is dry locktite between the hub and gear, take it appart and clean it.
hope that helps

My Logo600 is the same way. I removed the hub and reset the screws very carefully several times but it is the main gear that is out of true. I have had no problems running it this way. It is only about a mm or so but enough to see it quite clearly when spinning it. The gear seems flexible enough to handle it.

Again, although the locktite is always a possibility, I remind you that the warp was evident when I took the gear out of the box, before the hub was even out of it's package. The gear has a natural warp to it, and I suspect it is not abnormal. I was just hoping for some reassurance or if necessary a path to replacement if needed.

I guess it just depends on how warped it is. Just noticeable seems to work fine. If it has more than a 1mm gap when lying flat on the table then maybe you should contact aeromodel and see what options you may have.

My Mod .7 gear is also out of round. I tried loosening and tightening and all that stuff but it is just not round. My mod .5 gear was just about as perfect as it gets though.

Same here, the mod 5 is perfect flat.
