I want to buy a turbine heli. I like the fact that Chris Bergen hangs around the forums answering questions and just being available. Not to mention that he manufactures a very nice heli with a Wren engine.
Here is where I get confused. All the jet guys at my field(3 or 4 Guys) say use a Jet Cat engine. What to do ?????

I would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

I love my Bergen.

Wren is a mighty good 2 stage power plant.

After replies from Ron and Lou, and reading almost all the posts from this and the Bergen forum, I believe the Bergen is the way to go.
Any idea's on how long delivery will take after an order is placed?

Thanks for the input.

Btw Nice looking heli, Lou

Outspokin1,

Ordering a Bergen Turbine takes appx 3 weeks for delivery. Once we receive your deposit, we then order the Turbine from Wren. Typically 2-3 weeks.

Once we receive the Turbine, I build it, install the fwd and aft mount, and cooling fan, dial indicating these three pieces to each other to ensure proper level mounting in the helicopter (this is important for the fan hub to clutch alignment), test run your engine, box the whole thing up and ship it off to you to build the heli!

The Kit includes 810mm V-Blades, 95mm V-Paddles, and 110mmV-Tail blades. A fibregass canopy is included, your choice of "cheeks" or "no Cheeks" style. There also is a choice of color for landing gear, neon orange or yellow, white, or black.

I am also looking at the fuel tanks that Lou found, for a possibility of different colors available there as well. Of course they can be painted to match the canopy......

While we are waiting for the Turbine, we can send your canopy, fins, and fuel bottles to your favorite painter, so they'll be ready when you are.

Give us a call when you're ready for some 3D Turbine action!!

Chris,

Those tanks were found at Walgreens, not CVS as I may have posted. They have a subzero trade mark, but I don't think it's the Subzero appliance company, because I see another name call "Global Advantage of St Louis that is a private importer. The tanks are displayed in a 3X3 box in red, silver and blue and priced at 3 for $10.00 or $3.99 each. If you can't find any and you want me to look around for some let me know.

The only other identifier on the product is "stainless steel bottle" 750ml.

Ron,

The one on the right looks like it the one on the left doesn't from the top. The top on the Walgreen tanks are square. You should be getting yours tomorrow I hope.

HOW MUCH DOES A SET UP JET HELI COST?

All together you can have over $8,000.00 USD tied up with radio gear, bubble trap, Fuel can, propane trigger, oil, Fuel, Propane.

Not necessarily the cheapest way to do Turbine, but cetainly one of the most capable as far as aerobatic tendencies and power with the Wren 2 stage setup.

Good to meet you to Jeremy!!

How's that Knight flying? That reminds me, I need to call HC and give him a piece of my mind for not letting us know what he was up to...

I've known Henry a long time, and he STILL amazes me with his flying and his friendship in the hobby.

Chris - can you please advise on a checklist of stuff required to operate a turbine.
Youe mentioned these: radio gear, bubble trap, Fuel can, propane trigger, oil, Fuel, Propane.

Are there any more items required??

That's about it.

With the Turbine Observer, we don't use the Bubble trap. Instead we have put a 22 oz "header tank" in the belly. Traps any air bubbles and gives you a reserve of fuel.

2 separate batteries are required, one for the Rx, one for the ECU, we recommend the Duralite package as seen on our website.
