Sad news, Grant.
Count yourself lucky you weren't in the States though. That woman would have sued you for causing her dog mental distress...and would have won.
Posted update on my flight today in the 'progress' thread.
I really like that progress thread. I know for me anyway it serves as inspiration to move forward...chart my mistakes, and hopefully save someone else the troubles in the future.
That fear of giving it full aft stick and bringing it upside down just scares the crap out of me. I guess more than anything because I don't know how its going to respond. And that fear is prohibiting me from trying it.
....I guess it's only money.

I had that same problem - before i was trying loops i would go full speed forward and then pull back abit so that it did a huge half loops and then when it was nearly upside down i would give it negative pitch and bring it back forwards again. Doing this and getting it abit lower let me get the feel for heli abit better and my first loop i didnt plan untill i was at the top and just pulled full back, i didnt think about it. as soon as you do that its all easy from there!!
I will hopefully borrow my dads video camera this week and get some good video when the weathers a little better (tuesday i think) so you can see how im getting on with my inverted. I got grass on the blades today  (no, i dont mean when the dog got it!!!!)

:(:(:(Really sorry to hear it bro.:(:(:(
its a very original way to crash. A video would have paid for the repair on that Harry hill program, I don't suppose anyone filmed it?

No sorry, I was out on my own at the time. I wish i did so i could see what she looked like and pull her up next time i saw her. I bet she wouldnt have just walked off if it injured or killed her dog!

At this rate we'll never see a video from you LOL.
Bent frame is no big deal, straighten it... Thats the better part of having Aluminium frame over Carbon fiber which you would have had to replace.... the rest is all standard crash related items :)

Theres abit of video in the progress thread that Ian took! yes its very windy so its only abit of safe flying and high inverted but there is some there :)
Its been re-built now - luckily the align boom is only a lighter gun-metal type grey so it still looks nice!
These thing are so easy to work on compared to the belt cp - just changing the main gear is easier with the way the 1 way bearing bolts in.

Glad that It wasn't too hard to fix mate:)
the motor / head speed info you guys are swapping is really usefull I will definately look through it again when I come to buy my next heli:thumbup:

A question for the exi flyers
What is the difference between a exi 450 , t-rex 450 and belt cp all in cnc grade condition?

The EXI is identical to the Trex 450 SE-V2, I have flown both and they are both very very similar. The trex does look nicer, and maybe a little better quality but seriously no noticeable difference. The belt on the other hand is comletly different. The main difference being the slop in the head/linkages and the movement of the flybar. The washout arms on the belt do not have as much of a ratio from the swash to flybar as the trex/exi and so does not roll/flip or respond as fast - I would say that it should make it better for begginers but for some reason it isnt!
The trex/EXI are alot more stable than the belt, and I cnt seem to find out why.
Tail on the belt is very similar, and when blinged up looks very nice, but i think its just the quality and amount of slop that lets it down. The standard upgrades are made from weak aluminium and so nothing can be done up properly a the threads will strip so this causes unreliability.
The CoG is very hard to get perfect on the bekt aswell, and even though the trex/exi have a longer boom (about an inch) the normal battery placement is perfect to get the correct CoG with varying size batteries.
I am currently moddifying my belt to try and react as much like a Trex as possible without changin many stock parts - I just need to re-build it after a crash and test it again with the Trex washout arms on and I may try putting some much stiffer dampers in the head as they are VERY sloppy compared to the trex.I think that may cause half the problem.
Once I have finished experimenting if it turns out as well as I hope i may well sell it to fund the next heli - Trex 600n :clappp

For those interested in EXI's and T-rex compatible 450's, I just came across this very interesting site.

We need the same thing for the Belt CP.

Belt with DTS and Copter X head and tail is still cheap and a very good heli:thumbup:

I see you got the Youngbloods on :) good going!
Exi Vs Belt? no comparison...
To get teh Belt to be as responsive you will have to get a trex head and do the DTS mod... My Bro's belt feels like a Trex because of the above, but still his cyclic response is no where as quick as my Exi.

Yep - theyre lovely blades, just the carbon blending into black just looks the dogs!
I'm trying to find a seller for the Trueblood dampers for the head as I've heard theyre fantastic - and also a new motor tommorow, and hopefully another motor upgrade to the 2221-6 next week (only getting the 430XL tommorow as I have 2 local club meets to go to this week and dont want to miss them!)

Well after the failure of the scorpion motor i drove 30 miles to the nearest stockist of the 430XL align motor. Once i got there they had sold out, so the only one that fitted was the 430X. Checked the specs, speed is similar to my scorpion and only 20w less so i thought it would be alright. Bought and installed it, tested. WHAT A LOAD OF :BSS!!!
This motor bogs with any sort of loop/roll or anything. even slight blips on the throttle slow is right down.
This things being sold asap!!!! I've put 6 packs through the heli today with mainly large cicuits/fig 8's and a few loops and a small amount of low inverted having to be sooo carefull i dont bog it down. Luckily i got pissed off with it and decided to turn it off and try some auto's. First couple at about 4ft high, went well, then a few more about 10/15ft - not too bad, abit of a bounce on landing, then one from just over about 20ft, with a big bounce! All mechanically good though.
Luckily one of the flyers said he has a CRAZY power hacker motor i can borrow untill my new scorpion arrives, so thats going in tommorow! If it turns out as good as it sounds i'll buy it.
Also, the scorpion has a 2 year garrentee which i didnt realise, so I need to send mine back and get a replacement back, although i have asked for an upgrade to the -6 or -8 which they said is fine:).
Either way this EXI will be a beast by the end of it!!!!
Any one want an almost new align 430X motor?

Ok i am lost now... what failure??? failure to arrive in time or failure of the 13-14??
Yes i heard alot of stuff about that motor you bought including the XL so i didnt buy either, not even esky motor bogs and thats only 280 watts... if you ask me align is fudging numbers.

Sorry, the failure of the motor - i need to send it back tommorow and it will probably be about a week to get the new one back. I'll let you know how the hacker turns out - sounds fantastic though.

Hacker motors are very good, i have used them for my rc boats.. screamers for sure depending on which one you got.
what exactly did the motor stop doing???

I think the magnets have either shattered or fallen out abit. I noticed first when i was doing some inverted and the power suddenly dipped right off, then went back up abit but with a real grinding noise. Flipped it back over and landed and the case had dropped down about 3mm or so and was really wobbly and hot. Took it out and i think the bearing inside had worked it self out as it took alot of wobbling/pressure to push the outer case back forward. After that the motor was really grindy, and sometimes locks up.
Looking forward to testing out the hacker - I'm also looking at some trex 600e's, flown one today and theyre awesome!

What a pile of turd!!!!!
smashed my EXI again - this time its going to be quite pricey i think. The align 430x is the biggest waste of time ever, i would spend time to piss on it!!!! its that bad.
I was just doing a normal fast low loop in light winds and all going well untill i pulled it round to get it level, the motor just bogged sooooooooo much that it had absolubtly NO LIFT whatsoever and just slammed into the floor break my blade grip, feathering shaft, main shaft, one way bearing, totalled the boom, smashed the tail box, messed up the canopy and worst of all hurt my radix!!!!!!!
I'm looking for some new blade grips to fit the EXI/SE V2 but i can only find the expensive new ones, any ideas to a cheaper alternative?
DierWolf

Nope just cnc grips available for Trex V2 sorry.
Why did you fly with the same shit align motor if you knew it was no good? i would have waited or if i HAD TO fly only do some hovering or tight circuits.
Might as well now go out and buy all the gray cnc stuff for it (Blade grips and tailbox)
This is the main reason i kept my belts instead of selling them off, they are my testbed, rather test a product on that before i put it into my nicer machines.
So glad i read up on those stupid Arse Align motors before i bought one.
Sorry bout that man especially the Radix Bloodz.... Hey and entire new EXI is only 99 bucks LOLOLOL...
Just Kidding i know all you need is grips and tailbox.
Thanks Align!! Great job!
