Im having quite an unlucky week now! 3rd set of damages today!
I only flew again with this motor as i had nothing else i can use until the scorpion arrives next week. Theres also the 2 weekly indoor club tommorow night, so i needed something!
Well i went to the most local good shop, and they ran out of blade grips (the grey ones are on the V1 grips :( ) so i had to spend the almost the same price for the align V2 grips/central holder bit as a new EXI frame will cost! Although it is all ali.
Well i got those on good, and decided i couldnt afford the cnc gearbox and so bought a plastic one instead. Put it all on, put my torsion rotors back on and put an 11t pinion on the align motor to see if it helped it at all. Again it was crap, so i just spent some batteries doing fast high figure 8's and circuits and some high autos. All was going well untill the tail gearbox snapped inflight!! about 300ft high.
LUCKILY i had been practicing auto's, but due to the snapped gearbox the blades wouldnt pick up enough speed. but i atleast slowed it down a little.
All that broke was 1 mixing arm, and a very bent frame.
Some sheared off bolts but nothing pricey. I now need a cnc tailbox!

why do you need another central holder?

I didnt need one, but they didnt have the grips on their own so i had to fork out a fortune to to get it in the air. I'm stripping the entire thing down at the moment, get everything straight again. I still have to run this 430x peice of crap untill the scorpion comes though!!!!!
I cant wait for it to get here and have some REAL POWER again:)
Untill then, i guess i'll be taking it easy.

300 feet?
You are flying a 450 heli at 300'?
1) ok
2) Why

what happened to the hacker motor you were supposed to get?

Maybe not quite 300ft then. I was with some other heli flyers who said the trees were a certain height, and it was a fair bit higher! either way it was high lol! It was difficult to tell the orientation.
The guy lending me the hacker motor said he couldnt find it, although i am still interested to see what its like. looking at the specs it is only 300w, but designed by jason krause for the trex 450.
The align 430XL is supposed to be 350w, but this motor is supposed to be much better! My scoprion was 320w, and that was awesome. I could bog a 430XL on someone elses V2, and couldnt with the scorpion. I think align have majorly excadurated their specs!
I had a VERY lucky esacpe today. Did my first indoor flip, then tried another and the servo mounting screws fell out  I only put loctite on them the other day! It went all over the place, lucky i managed to land it with no damage.
The new align cnc head and tail are lovely bits on engineering!

i had a great day as well, put on the 14 tooth on my exi and omg the headspeed is just lovely!!! my Exi is now a hands free hoverer its that stable... what a joy to fly now..
Took the Esmart over to my brothers today and his eyes almost fell out his head, he ask me how much i paid for it. Told him 500 dollars LOLOLOL... (can buy 2 1/2 for that LOL)
let him fly my exi as well and he said its like night and day, told him its all to do with headspeed so he has me ordering some pinions for him to upgrade his belt... he already has full cnc trex stuff on jsut his headspeeds a little low right now.. told him either that or move up to 4s batteries..
Glad to here your outting wasnt a complete flop, yeah someone at align must ahve been drunk that day and mixed up some numbers :)

Yer, the headspeed is fantastic with the scorpion on. Have you got the -6 yet?
I can hover mine hands free for about 5-10 seconds with the scorpion in. I was looking into going 4s, but decided the cost of replacing 5 lipo packs is a little too much really.
I just cant wait to get the new scorpion motor back in, I can get trying to learn some new things again.
Sounds like you got some amasing deals on those E-smarts - I'm looking into a trex 600 atm :)

Ebay, 179 and 20 dollar shipping to me :) 199 total for the esmart... cant get any better than that my friend.

Grant,
What kinda of battery was your buddy running on that 430XL? It's a power hog. I can do hovering practice and basic FF stuff with my 15c batteries. But piros and hard power inputs it will bog unless I am running my 25c Kong's.

Yer i wouldnt run any less than 20C withanything less than 2000mA batteries. I have started buying 25C batteries and did find the scorpion ran much better. The 430x motor bogs with a 15c or 25c.
I was trying hard full collective flips/rolls and the ones it really bogged on was roll to inverted punch outs, I mean it was bad enough to really effect much, but you could hear it a little, the scoprion kept going with no noticeable drop.

Just thought some-one might be interested but i came about this thread in the trex section earlier.
http://helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=12316&highlight=canopy+mount+reinforce
I have buckled my EXI frame every crash from the canopy mounts being pushed back so I will be doing this mod tommorow. Its simple and will save your frame well.
Also, what do you guys prefer, the black or the silver SE V2 carbon frames? i think I like the black, but i also like the silver. Might go black ontop, silver on bottom? What you think?
My ali frame will start getting weak soon as ive straightened it out a few too many times!

If it turns out as good as the specs say it looks like a good motor - awesome for the price infact. Comparing those specs to the scorpions/align etc they seem a little excadurated but hey, if its close to that youve got a bargain. Let me know how it goes, could be a good upgrade for the belt.

Just go the scorpion route! Theyre very good and pretty cheap, especially for what your getting. Scorpion stuff also comes with a 2 year warentee.
Just got my new HK2221-8 in and its awesome :lol:runs nicde and cool too.

OK, Scorpion it is then. What type of ESC did you end up getting? I already have all the servos so I won't get additional servos but besides the EXI 450, I don't have anything else. I saw on your thread the you guys were talking about some paddles but I couldn't figure out which one these are. Did you get your motor, esc and other parts from a particular vendor/seller or just various?
I bought the EXI to take my Belt-CP apart and use the components there but now... the EXI looks too much like the TREX 450 that I'm thinking I will fix the Belt-CP (just main shaft damage) and build the EXI 450. That way I will have an addional heli for when I crash :YeaBaby:
So feel free to give me any suggestions you have and specially places to buy from, thanks!

I bought mine in the UK, but just give it a google search and i'm sure t will come up somewhere. I bought the scorpion commander ESC with it, you can get either the 35 or 45A and theyre a pretty good price and come with the programming card although i left the settings as standard.

It's really nice that I could program this with a programming card. Really cool! OK, so I will get the Scorpion motor and ESC, thanks guys. I will keep an eye open for the other motor to be the back up for my Belt-CP. :)

I've just bought a 14t pinion today to test out on the HK2221-8 motor for the exi, so far with the 13t its flying really great and no bogging, but the 430xl will be giving a slightly higher head speed so i decided to give a 14t a go. I need to find a camera soon to get some recent footage of my flying, and you will agree this motor is awesome.
It even runs soooooo cool, and so does the 35A ESC

I will get the same motor but the 45A. They were out of the HK2221-8 at innov8tivedesigns.com so I will check again in a week. They had it when I was looking at it. Made up my mind a day later... gone... no more! So you are using a 13 pinion and you are happy with it. Let me know how the 14 pinion performs. Any preference on recivers? I have a small Spektrum AR6100e on my Belt-CP. I can't remember how much it was but I think it was like $49.00.

Ok got the motor in his heli, seems to be ok, a bit warm after the flight but seems ok, will test some more and let you know... certainly does have more power for sure.
