i got the extractor fan out of a 14.4 v cordless larger style vacuum cleaner called a shark here in nz i think it was marketed worldwide as a pirhana. it has a fibreglass tubine style fan. i enlargened the induction hole on the turbine to 40 mm cut out the shank on the other side where the shaft of its motor fitted, shaved the od till it well cleared the swash then fitted it so it completely fits over the top bell of the 1100kv motor and ca'ed it straight to the top of the motor. now when it runs it sucks air up thru the bottom of the motor and pumps it out the top.quite a lot of air......still all fits under the canopy[unlike the gaui 3300 6s lipo] so then blows it over the esc and battery. and it works like ya would not believe.any drag problems seem minimised by the massive increase in efficiancy due to how cool the motor stays.after hovering for approx 8 min in the top of the throttle curve the motor which used to be to hot to touch didn't rate luke warm. i shit thee not........

My wife has a shark.
Hmmmm?
I bet she is going to wonder why it won't pick anything up any more...
Or you can sabotage it...then pick it up from the trash.....she'll never know it was you....unless WE tell her.

Come on you can build and set up a heli, surely you can open a shark and "nick" a little power cable!! LOL. Very interested, at this stage my gaui 1100 is lying idle in my drawer. I considered putting a laptop fan in front of the motor, but then I got a Z20.......

What about some of those cooling fans you can buy at the electronics shop to cool electronics, some are pretty big and the fan could be removed and modified in the same way? They are really cheap to, and more plentiful than sharks I imagine!!

skydude- those sharks are pieces of crap. so take it to bits, steal its turbine, put it back together and when it doesn't work tell her you read on the net that their crap and your positive its turbines gone.honesty is always the best policy.also i know two phee's neither of em small.your welcome to both of them.zoobie i started along the computer fan route but basic rule of grow rooms[don't ask] is when you blow into a confined space your trying to push the pressure of the entire atmosphere out of it. instead you try and create a vacuum and let all that air rush in to fill it.concept1 had another fly this arvo and confirmed 8 min of precision hovering[sad init] and gentle[yet adrenalising] ff with throttle curve 0 70 80 90 100 this is up 30 or 40 percent on unmodified motor with curve 0 40 60 75 90. some of us people on the other side of the world do 18 hour days to make you incredibly shitty tv programs so if someone lets me know how to post the pictures sitting in the other window all will be revealed.......*&$#@#*%%% i just had to retype this cause it didn't post i gotta learn to type with another finger this ones starting to hurt....

cause i'm to tired to think.so if someone[anyone] could post me a quick set of how to put on these photo's....pretty sure skydude don't want both phee's haha. oh yeah and got about another min before the battery started to fade.just plugged it in to the imax b6 and it reckons its a 5s...... 5 cells at about 3.4 v and one at 2.9v. wonder what times i'll get with a good pack

The fans I was thinking of look like cpu ones but bigger. I think they are for sound systems and inverters.

Hmm, that looks more like the right thing for the job, you find them in drilling machines etc, but I dont know where you would find them on a large scale, unless you contact the "shark" repair center and tell them your cooling fan is broken!
