Just thought I would post a quick picture of the first production G5's that have been built up for the Team Outrage Pilots.
These 3 G5's are all set up identical as follows:
350mm Carbontec Blades
Spektrum AR6100 RX
Hitec HS-65MG on cyclic
Spartan DS760 Gyro
Futaba S9257 Tail Servo
Medusa MR-28-32-1500V2 Motor
Kontronik 40-6-18 Speed Controller
6S1P 1300MaH Outrage XP25 Batteries
6 minutes of H to the C's EXTREME 3D at head speed of around 2300 putting back only 1100mAmps back into the battery
We are still looking at an early May release for the first retail production kits being available
See them fly in person this weekend at the Huntsville, AL funfly!

   They look angry..... and fly like they're pissed off.
I think it should say that somewhere on the box.;) ..... as a warning to the faint at heart.

So from what I have ready they are expected to start shipping sometime early-mid next month. Being that we are getting a little closer to release, are there any ballpark estimates on pricing? Not even really looking for numbers as much as do you guys expect them to be more/less/about the same as the competitive brands? (and I don't mean to insult the G5 by comparing to other helis! loll)
Only reason I ask is that I am super interested in getting one, but am also about as impatient a guy as can be when it comes to blowing money on toys (read that as: I have a very short window to grab something when the wife gives me the OK - else there is backlash!). Also considering grabbing a Beam and looking back at the G5 down the line. If the g5 kit is going to be priced in the same ballpark I will probably try and wait it out. If it's going to be significantly more, I might just have to pass for now and hope I can hide enough pennies to slide one by the wife down the road. lol
Someday I will finish grad school and not rely on her being the breadwinner. Until then, I have to buy smart and buy fast!
Thanks for any info guys!

Wow, perfect. Any chance I can put a pre-order in with some priority shipping (only half-kidding!)? Don't by chance have a mailing list setup do you?
Looks like I am going to have to hold off on the beam and wait this one out. Am ordering a bunch of stuff for my Trex from you guys anyway (btw, the $28 carbon 325 blades are sweet) so I can just bundle them up(easier to ask for forgiveness than permission). Just hope you are able to get some spartans back in stock before then. :)
Thanks for the info HD, you guys rock.

One tough helicopter as witnessed by my crash test flight on HC's G5. Cheers to the Outrage group at Huntsville. Looks like you have a winner in the G5 !

I just hope Charley still has parts left after all the crash testing that went down. ;)

I must say that the G5 simply kicks ass. It's crazy at the 3d you can do turning a headspeed of 2400. I'm really enjoying flying this heli.
And I'm pleased to be pilot for Helidirect and Outrage Rc.

I can't wait for this one!
I have a question: do the motor, esc and battery run hot in the posted setup? Is the hobbywings esc any good? I'm asking because at my place it's always about 100 degrees. It's simply really hot! So should I spot for more capable escs like the CC45HV or the kontronik 40?
its a 6S running on a 450, should be very cool.

has anyone ran the heli with something other than the 6s setup? Already having some 3s and 4s and a medusa 3400kv, curious how a lower tooth pinion 4s setup would run in it. Also, anyone tried 335 blades at all?
Only ask because I am sure to destroy 350's at some point and do not want to be dealing with a few days of downtime waiting for more to get shipped to me. Curious how 335's would fly on it with a little higher headspeed during those inevitable 'wait for the UPS guy' weekends?
Thanks for the feedback.

While the 6s rocks for flight time and consistent power through the flight there is no reason this machine would not fly exceptional on 3s – 4s. Charley has done a ton of work with the head and tail to make sure this machine will perform without a 3K head speed. Will this machine perform better than a brand X on 3 or 4s?… Yes. Because you can gear it down you will see increase in performance and flight time. The 6s just adds to pleasure with increased flight times and performance right to the end.

I have to admit, thats a pretty kick ass lookin heli! Very aggressive lookin! I just might have to get one, to replace my crappy trex450.
