One of my non-heli friends asked me what the range was on my DX7. I said I would get back to him. Does anyone know?

I fly a 74" Yak that I spent two weeks keeping pretty damn high up because it scared the bejezus out of me and I didn't have any problems.
Proper power delivery to the receiver, and following the antenna/reciever mounting guide lines and I would fly it in anything I own including my large gliders.

I think what BarracudaHockey is trying to say is that you will loose sight of your model before it's out of range.

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. I'm sure the range of 72mhz stuff is farther, just due to what I know about frequencies and wave propogation. 72mhz stuff works way beyond what we can see. I'm pretty sure 2.4 works beyond what we can see and maintain control over.
I think their literature said 8 km still had good link. I assume they were flying on telemetry and chase equipement. Cause they sure as heck would not have had it in sight still.

You can take this for what it is worth. But here is what XPS claims on there website as to operating range.
Scroll down to the page to the Comparsion Chart
http://www.xtremepowersystems.net/
They claim a lot of stuff on that site that is not the case also.

Over and RCG some guys tested the range, ground to ground, and got over 1.5 miles.
