Bobby Watts uses the 451s in his Stratus. I've been looking at them for a Stratus as well.

I just put them in my N9 but have not tried them yet.

I originally bought the bls451s for my vibe50, but the I read about them glitching and Futaba reporting them not being suitable for heli use. So I returned them and bought 9452s instead. I was dissapointed, I was pretty jazzed about this new servo.

I am running them on my N9 and my Trex 600N. Love these servos. The people who say these are not good servos for heli use are mistaken. The heli dose not know what sevo you are using, and the servo dose not know it is in a heli. I just put these servos in My N9 and they replaces 9451s. I have been running the BLS 451 in my Trex 600N for 8 months now and no problems on 6 volts.

I believe it's Futaba who said that. At least that's what a very well respected pilot told me.

Sorry some people beleive everything they hear. Mine work great. Like i said the servos don't know they are in a heli. Steering servos for cars are much worse than helis are. The cars take much more adbuse.

I dont worry too much when people gripe about a product, but when I read a statement from the the manufacturer that says their servo is not suitable for heli use, I'll take their word for it. I agree that the servo doesnt know what vehicle its in, but if it fails in a heli as opposed to a car the crash will probabley cost a hell of a lot more money to fix. I agree with you that steering servos take more abuse that collective servos, but when I have a few $grand flying in the air and several options available to me in servos, I chose not to go with the BLS-451.

could you produce this in writing?
i just talked to the USA futaba rep last week, and they came highly recommended from futaba, but he also said to wait they are releasing a new servo soon.

Keep in mind, I'm not knocking the bls-451 servo, I just chose not to take the chance with my own money in the air. I know that alot of people had success with these servos, but I also didnt need these servos for a 50 size heli. I've been a Futaba guy for easily 20yrs. If they were in my heli and were not giving me problems, I would not remove them.

Hulley I beleive what you are saying and i see your consern. Listed below is what she said. The funny thing is that i beleive the BSL 451s are more precise for heli use than the 9451s that are. I have both and have switch them out on my Trex 600N and my N9. I like th BSL 451s better. They center and hold way better than the 9451s. They are also more repeatable. with that said i think she just might have made a mistake on what she ment.
BLS451 Glitching
Whirlybird,
The BLS451 is designed by Futaba for use in Nitro or Electric cars, they are not precise enough for the demands of heli flight.
The only brushless servo we offer at the moment for heli use is the BLS251.
If they were not good than why are Futaba pilots flying them in there helis? Bobby Watts and Jason Krause use them.

Ya know the whole thing threw me off! I thought that several team pilots were using the bls 451s with great success and it would seem like the brushless servos would be much better in every aspect. I just got a little spooked and went with 9452s, I didnt need a really powerful servo for a .50 size and they cost a little less. I'll probably end up getting some bls-451 when I go up to a 90.

BLS-451 are great for 90size helis. Just buy it and fly it!
They rock on my V-Max...
have there been more error report on these servos ? just got me 3 of these before i did read this post. and now i'm afraid to use them in my t-rex 600N

Use them. they are great. I run a set in my 600N and another set in my Synergy. They are one of the best servos out today that you can out in your heli. You will not be disappointed. Go fly them and have a great time.
oki so.. gonna install them as soon as i get me some align servo wheels for the futaba servos..
crashed my 450 cuz of faulty (waypoint w-092sh's) elevator servo. and nothing is more frustrating than crashing cuz of servo failure..
just hope this don't happends with the 451's in the 600 :D

you will need a small servo extention wire for the ele servo(I think 3 inch). Good luck and you will enjoy them. JK runs the same set up you are going to run. Hope that helps with the confidence. Kevin

Evidently the 251 has been discontinued so keep an eye on on the 451's.

I have never seen this servo before LXVEZ1 BLS 251. It must of been a propotype or a miss print or something.
LXUVU4 BLS 215 is the one i have seen for sale. And it is still advalible from Tower.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXUVU4&P=7
So the BLS 251 is not Discontinued. Please look a little closer to the web site and you will see it is still being made.

Don't know if you're intentionally being a smart ass or not but I'll assume the latter. The original search showed only one BLS251 servo (not two like it does now) and it did say discontinued.

Sorry i was not trying to be a smart ass. I was just stating that the one servo never made it to market and the other one did and it was not dicontinued. Sorry i did not mean to come off that way.
Anyway people could of checked the Futaba web site, That is what i did to make sure. Tower is a nice web site but not always ccurate.
