Well as promised and just like I did with the 500, here is a little interview with Andy from Assurance RC and the Trex700.

I tried to cover some of the questions people had that I saw posted and show as much as I could. I certainly can follow up if I missed something you all want to know or hear.

Big thanks to Align and Andy and Kyna from Assurance for this interview.

Anyway on with the interview!

Hey Bob, did Andy mention what gear ratio it is? And what is the root and bolt size for the main blades? Thanks

Bert Kammerer

Gear ratio is 8.2:1. Blade grip size is standard 14mm with a 5mm bolt.

A lot of talk about the fan, but no mention of it being plastic or metal..... I'm assuming metal because of the close tolerances to the shroud, and the "no upgrade" design that Jason is shooting for....?

Last I heard, fan is plastic.

Plastic. Very strong though, no need for metal.

I thought he did a killer job. Ever tried holding a HD camcorder with one hand, interviewing someone and manipulating the heli with the other hand at the same time to show details? It is not so easy as it appears.

Yes because the fan and fins on the fan are so small the mass is not large enough to cause distortion. That's the idea anyway... Only testing by the pilots over the next 2 months will let us know.

Something you all may not have picked up on is this time BECAUSE it is a 90 big machine, they are going into production but then holding off to let pilots fly it for a while and then make changes before final production. For many that ***** about being beta testers this should not be that way this time. ALL the serious pilots will be flying them soon. We will see them flying it at many events etc. What they find I am told will effect final customer builds.

Anyway that is what Andy said and told me and I think it is a good thing for a 90 SERIOUS machine!

Of course like any NEW heli, we shall see....... But I have confidence myself!

So will does this mean you'll be going nitro?

As "Super D" asked earlier - The 700 will handle 710mm blades, correct?

What are most pilots using? What did Andy have on this 700?

Is it pretty much pilot preference, or is this heli proving to like a certain size blade?

Thanks Bob !

Bunch of 700's here at Huntsville. With any luck Dan and I will be bringing back some video. Jason, Alan, Bert, Mike Swift and others. They have parts with them as well to support them. Pretty cool.

Kyna is also here.

I still think the landing gear is too small, but JK says it isn't and he's the expert.

Ok, here's why I think so, as some know, I have a Raptor 90 and I'm of the opinion that when the 700 and Raptor and 600 are side by side, the gear will look too small. Just my opinion and I"ve been wrong before. Also, to add to why I think it needs to be wider is that not all pilots are super pilots and will get tired of repairs because of tip overs due to the gear being too narrow.

Again, just my opinion.

I think there will be a demand for the wider gear and an aftermarket company will provide it, such as Gorrila gear. Or adapt the Raptor gear or other 90 size gear.

Oh, and thanks Bob for your time.

I think the heli is great,, Except for the canopy, I wish it could cover just alittle more of the sides of the heli,, not much but maybe 3/4"to1" and just thin it up a bit towards the top, kind of like the synergy/avant type canopy, I realize the canopy is mostly cosmetic but I have heard alot of complaints about it,, alot of people on RR and the freaks are complaining,,

Hehehehe.... I personally like the canopy look myself... But how canopies look is always something people discuss. You can't please all the people... If they change it, someone else probably will complain they don't like it.... Very subjective ya know ;)
