I found Shawn's post describing several motor/pinion combinations.
I would like a combination of lower headspeed, longer flight time.
No 3d or fancy flying, still learning.
I currently have 16t, mod.7 gear, Hacker 40 10L, TP3850, Jazz 80,and throttle curve at flat 65. The motor gets fairly warm, esc w/heat sink stays cool.
Any suggestions
Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

I run a 15T on that motor with normal @ 75%, idle 1 @ 80%, and idle 2 @86% (2320) and get temps on the ESC of about 110-125F and about the same on the motor with fairly hard flying. The 16T made everything too hot for me just as you described.
If you went 15T and went down to about 75% you could probably get 8-9 minutes of simple FF and hovering with that motor.

Yes as Bruce sayds, try a smaller pinion and that might work out best for you. I have to apoligize as I am abit of a powerhog and tend to lean on the crazy side of motor power setups....

On the other end of the spectrum, my logo 500 is setup with a Century 600A Plus (Z-Power Z30A equivalent) with a 17T mod 0.5 (~12.3T mode 0.7) and 500mm blades. With 8 minute flights I put back 3000mah in a 5000mah pack - so I could go for ~10-11 minutes if my brain was up to it... Now I only do sport flying and am just starting flips and loops and the logo does not exactly have a lot of punch with this setup but it still flies fine in my opinion. I am not suggesting this setup, but thought you might be curious...
The quest for power does seem to be part of this hobby.. After flying a trex 500 for the last couple of months or so, I just ordered larger baldes and pinions for the logo :-)
