DX-7 with Switchglo question

I am having a problem getting the DX-7 to work with the switchglo. The instructions from switchglo state that I need to use a Y-harness. I have the gyro gain going into the gear channel. I followed the instructions and placed the Y-harness into the gear channel with the gyro gain, and the switchglo comming off of the y-harness. I have gone into program mix 2 put gear to gear with the switch to gear. When I power the receiver on, the gyro will initialize and the switchglo will come on, but when I flip the gear switch nothing happens. Do I need to change the rate or offset I'm very confused. I hope you guys can help.
