For all interested, I have developed a Flight Log program that has been around now for a number of years. I have recently added some additions specifically for the 14MZ.

You can now add pictures of your models into Flight Log and can also scale and crop them to the exact size required for the 14MZ.

I have also added the ability to backup and restore the settings files from the 14MZ directly into Flight Log. Since the USB port does not seem to work on the radio this has to be done through the Compact flash card. If the USB becomes operational in the future I will try and use this directly.

If interested in can be downloaded here.

Interesting. Does you software have the ability to rename 14MZ models properly. The 14MZ stores the actual model name within the .mdl file. That would be a very useful feature.

Not at the moment, it simply takes the entire file and saves it in the database.

However, I may be able to do this. Its funny how these files work. If you try and restore the file it also shows up in the model list at the same location so there must be some portion of the file that tells the radio what model number in the list it is. I would like to figure this out as I need a way to re-order the models on the CF card.

It's got a timestamp in it which the 14MZ seems to be using to sort the name list.

After you create a model you can right click on it and select "Set Picture" from the popup menu. Click the "Load Image" button to add a picture for that model. You can the press the button called "Prepare 14MZ bitmap" and a rectangle will apear with the exact aspect ratio of the bitmap used by the 14MZ. You can scale this rectangle and it will keep the correct aspect ratio. You can also move it arouond to get the exact picture you want.

The button will change to "Save 14MZ Bitmap". Press this and it will save the image to a 164x82 bitmap where ever you want. Usualy you save directly to you CF card for use in the radio.
