I was wondering what type of maintenance is done to a heli that 3d's.

How often do you thoroughly go over the bird?
What do you go over regularly?
What besides linkages, nuts, bolts, blades, gears, fuel system, servos, bearings do you look at?
How long does a clutch/liner last?
What about a close tail rotor how often do you clean then regrease it? How often should you take apart the head dampening system to check the O-rings?
Does it differ between models example expert or a extreme/tempest, does one wear/last longer than the other??

Thanks,
Branden

Here's how I do it..but Im not normal cuz I fly here in Kuwait and its really sandy dusty and just HOT....Everyday after I fly I sit down with Qtips and Isoprophl alchol..and I clean every single part I can get to with a Qtip... I check all ball links for excess play.. and I push and pull on everything..main shaft..Head parts tail rotor blades I mean everything... Now this is alot of work and takes about 2 hours and when Im done cleaning i re lube everything... This is my feelings on preventative maintenance..If you invest Big Dollars on your machine then you have to invest big hours to ensure that Big Dollars dont become small pieces... I always seem to find something lose or a better way of doing something by spending this time with My Machine...Just my 2 cents...

I look mine over ever time I fly, before and after. I touch the links, wiggle them with the radio and look for anything that is loose or has changed. Look also for the grey oil that is present when things wear. If you do not abuse the clutch it will last a long time. I have an xl se that is six years old with many many hours of use with the same clutch.
My head lets me know when it is time for new o-rings by starting to fly different.
The amount of time or flights between repair will depend on your style of flying and how you take care of your machine. Just watch for things that change as there is usually a reason for it's change. Hope this helps

1.After everyday of flying
2.Cap screws, links, head bolts, washout arm bolts, tail parts
3.Nothing
4.Depends on how much power you're making and you're flying style
5.Never got to that interval before terra firma decided that a rebuild of the gearbox was in order
6.When it begins to feel a bit sluggish and you can see the disk moving independently of the rest of the mechanics. After a crash
7.No

how often do you guys regrease the tail gearbox in the fury extremes/stratus/tempests etc??...

my flying style is hard 3D.. would that mean i would have to regrease it more often because it is all working alot harder than just normal puting around?

Every 25 flights or so for closed box here and I'm a 3D wannabe at best.
