This is from tonight when I got home from work, I was doing my best flying ever, I think.

Nice quick take off and some nice smooth consistent piro's, with plenty of altitude. I am starting to lose the shakes. But about 2:30 in, some kids on bikes came by and I had to land and go in because they kept coming closer and closer. I was really dissapointed because it just felt like it finally clicked for me, and I was about to try some FF. Right before they showed up I was just going left and right in front of myself and turning the nose in the direction of flight. Oh well, I understand it is not my private property, and they are just kids, but I only get to fly once a day when I get home from work before it gets dark, and I really wanted to finish the pack.

Anyway enough of the rant, here is the video.

BTW, I toned down my Aieleron and Elevator swash mix by 10%. right before this flight and it really seemed to help me. It doesn't feel so twitchy anymore.

I can't wait to do it again. I think I am really starting to get it now.

Nice job. Shoot, tell the kids the thing will tear them up if it hits them. They will move.

I have warned them once before a couple of weeks ago. I even told them I'm not that good and if it hits them they could get hurt real bad, but they don't listen. But I guess when I was a kid I would have done the same thing. I was just really dissapointed I had to end my flight so quickly. Oh well, tommorow is another day.

You might have a fan group following! Great flying! I use to drive my R/C Miata in my old neighborhood and the thing was really fast. I had it down to a science and could do these really cool 360's on the fly. Pull back on the stick, hard left, floor it, hard right and it was still going! Wild but the kids would come out every time. Not as dangerous as the Heli but kind of the same thing, in that you need to concentrate on what you are doing at the time.

Got some time in last night on the blade but still have my gear on. I tried Flight mode I guess it's called and man the Heli is very responsive and the blade is spinning extremely fast! Kids could really get hurt. I made my little Girl (3 yrs.) stay in her play fort.

Nice flying!

On my way home from work today I stopped by the LHS and got another set of Align 325 3K carbon fiber blades. Damn, they fly so much better and have so much more pop, and climb out so much faster. For some reason most of my tail wag was gone too. Maybe because my headspeed was up because the blades are lighter. I really love these blades, even though they cost 40 bucks to crash, they are worth every penny in my opinion. I just don't like the stock woodies at all, they flex and make a lot of noise, and don't climb very fast. And with my still noobish flying when I get too close to the ground or out of shape I like to do a quick climb up of at least 10 feet or so and regain my composure.

Anyway, tonights flight was uninterrupted, I got a full 6 minutes in, and did even better than last night, but sadly my camerawoman was too busy cooking to come tape it.

Oh well I'll try to get a couple more vids up this weekend if you guys are interested. And I hope you are all having as much fun as I am.

I was looking at some CF today but thought I might still wait.

I was having fun till I crashed today. :( Ask me how I am doing tomorrow after I go to the LHS. If I can get it fixed, I will be doing great (again). ;)

In the vid, as you come in to land, it looks like you cut power when about a foot off the ground. Do you use throttle hold or cut or something?

Cheers, Dave.

Yes SeaComms, I use throttle hold, I feel this is the best way to land. For one I think it teaches you the very basics and beginnings of doing an auto. And also, if for some reason the heli tips over when you land, if you are in throttle hold, there is no power to the motor and you probably won't hurt anything. Also I just think it is cool. I always land like that now.

Helimix, I am very sorry to hear of your crash, I hope it wasn't too bad, I haven't had a chance to read your thread yet but I will. Good luck and get that thing back in the air as soon as possible.

sd0,
I might try align 325 CF blades also, its a little windy today. Does it handle wind very good? And the sound I heard from sokal bird is facinating. I will grab ine at LHS today.

Thanks sd0. It was SO much easier than I thought it would be. Took longer to go get the parts than it took to reapir it (took me longer but I was watching how to vid and learning what I needed to know etc).

This thing is fun to work on actually. I really enjoyed it and learned a fair amount too.

Man I know they are just kids but MAN they are dummies!! Love how they get so close to you. Just think one day when you get good enough and after many times of warning them, you ought to take a quick fly past them give them a lil shake maybe a little deposit in the pants. Perhaps that would get them to give the distance you so long desire:thumbup:

I agree, when I had my first crash, I had the guy at the LHS fix it for me. Then I got a Trex 600 and building it was almost as fun as flying it. I really enjoy the building/repairing almost as much as the flying. Also, you will understand your heli a lot more if you fix/build it yourself.
