OK while at AssuranceRC the other day I shot a little video of the Trex500 TT.
What they did to make the gears stronger for this heli was to go to a .5 module gear set.
It looks good and might be pretty strong!
Have a look for yourself

Bob,
Can you give us a short description about what are the advantages and disadvantages of this TT upgrade?
There are speculations whether or not it is unnecessary, some even say it is crap.

There are pros and cons to wither belt or TT.
TT costs more when you crash and is easier to strip gears. But it makes the system run more free than a belt.
Belt can break in flight, cause static issues for some, and in my opinion is a total pain to replace (you have to remove the entire boom block).
Why some say it is crap I dunno. Many helis in the 90 class have TT.

You see, this is my worrie, i get my trex 500 running with belt and it crashes, id rather spend the $$ and buy the TT, a gear is alot cheaper than a set of blades and head parts etc etc.
Agree!!?

OK here's my take on the torque tube experience from my 600. I've ran it with both belt and TT as well as have other birds with belt drives.
Don't expect any largely noticeable performance differences between the two. In a blind test I don't think many would be able to pick out the difference while in flight between a belt and a TT heli. If you want to change it for other reasons like static or just cuz a TT is something different and mechanically intriguing to look at then by all means go for it. Although if you are still making hard landings or tapping your tail often it will probably be a lot wiser to stick with a belt.

Looks good cant wait to get one and test it.
Is there also a new T600 TT with more teeth on the gears like they have done with the 500 ? And was that heli next to the 500 the new 700 ?
