I am a newbie so please help me… :D

I want to run JR8717, digital on my throttle and tail @6V straight from my lipo. My stock Align regulator isn’t going to cut it so I was thinking of bypassing it. I know I can run 8v but for now I want 6.

Can’t I just use a rectifier diode to get 6V running the power directly to the receiver and then the amps are not a concern? If so what size diode? Do I need a regulator for anything now?

Why do you want to bypass the reg?

Hi i dont think it will work, those diodes like the align step down one are only rated to 1 amp or so.
A fully charged lipo will be 8.4v fresh off the charger so a diode type step down would only drop the voltage to say 7. 4 ish i think. You need a regulator capable of at least 6 amps or so
. I use the align 2in1 on 3 8717's but i am not a 3Der

I want to bypass the regulator because running 3xJR8717 on hard 3D moves can pull 3 or 4 amps each. The Align is 6amps...

Ok thanks for the info. I guess I will just have to fork out the dough for a heavy duty regulator.
