Ok... finally got tired of swapping out the gears on the servos... bought 3 HS-65HB servos today.
Last night while I was hovering the heli... the B400 decided to to do an inverted flip on its own and slammed to the pavement blades first! It was the heli fault and not the operator!!:arggg::arggg::arggg::arggg::arggg:

any tips before I install it?

The elevator servo drops right in - a little tight but no problems. The rear servos are a bit too tight. If you pull the stocks out and look at the mounting you will see on the front edge a few steps, with the widest part of the opening being where the screw holes for the servos are. I simply shaved the high spots of the steps down so that it was flat all the way down, level with sections where the screw holes are.

You will also need to stretch the centre mounting hold on the front end of the rear servos, a mm or so toward to the body of the servo as it will no longer line up.

Then, insert the side with the wires first, then the other side will go in with some 'encouragement'!

I then mounted the balls on the third hole from the centre of the large double ended arms, and I mounted them on the inside face to improve the alignment of the pushrods.

This video was to show the servo twitching I was having, but it also shows the servos in the mounts and the arms/links.

Dont forget that once completed you will need to go back over swash levelling, pitch check etc. You will also need to reverse the servo's in the TX reversal menu (elev, aile and pitc)

Cheers, Dave.

and "Re-Bind" ;)

I did not "Rebind" after installing my HS-65mg's. Why is it neccesary? I don't seem to be having any trouble at all. Just changing servos shouldn't require a rebind should it? The reciever is still the same and the servos are plugged in the same places, and performing the same functions. Maybe I'm wrong, or I just got lucky, but I would like a definitive answer on this, because if I really need to do it I will.

Any time you make ANY changes to the servos on your TX you should rebind. If you change sub-trim, rebind. Change swash mixes, rebind. When in DOUBT, REBIND. It only takes a few seconds to rebind your TX/RX. Why not just do it :).

Also, FYI, this is part of the problems people have with the Stock Gyro :). That and a few other things that are "user error".

Rebinding resets the centre or power fail position of the servos, so any change to centre such as subtrim or servo changes I agree with Sparx - rebind.

Actually, the Fail-Safe Feature of the 6100 and 6200 RX's is a little mis-leading. There is only one channel that will goto the Binded Fail-Safe postition and that is the throttle channel. All other channels hold their current position in event of a loss of signal. There are some Spektrum RXs that have Fail-Safe positions for all channels, but i do not remember which ones for sure.

One of the problems with the Spektrum RX is that it does not always boot up fast when you apply power to it. So it will "default" to the postitions that were set durning binding.

Thanks everybody...:)
Seacomms... checked out your video... Kewl!!

I'll be working on it later this afternoon or late tonight pending on the "honey do" list;).
Oh... RE-BIND!!

I think I may have mentioned once or twice about "re-binding" hey Wolfpackin? LOL

I do recall you mentioning that once or twice.:YeaBaby:

sounds like I'll be headed that way too, anybody try the Spectrum digital servos? My LHS has them don't know about them yet.

I'm using the DSP75 on the tail, it works well.

I don't think the gears are any stronger, though.

The spektrum servos are the same servos as the e-flite, exactly the same.

Then how come the DSP75 can accept the digital pulse of the gyro and the DS75's can't?
Also, the DSP75's are programmable and the DS75's are not.
Just wondering what you can offer on that.

Well,
after doing 5 days worth of "Honey Do" stuff I finally installed the 65HBs. Followed Seacomm suggestions and all went smooth. I did forget to mount the ball link in the inside. I have them on the outside. I'll change it to the inside.

Took it out and it flies pretty good. Here is the good news.. I cashed it -- broke the main blades, bent mainshaft and flybar. NO STRIP SERVOS!!!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup:
So far every wreck I had since I had the B400 I stripped at least one servo (stock).
The upgrade has paid off on the first crash!!!

Replaced everything and back to flying. I'm having a slight issue with the tracking of the blades but the B 400 flies good. I got both blades right about 0 and one is tracking very low from the other. I have to recheck all alignments again.
