Guys, for non english-mother tongue helifreaks, what does this RTV refer to in the video? Is this epoxy?

RTV is a special type of silicone. The RTV acronym has been driving me a little crazy, so I looked it up. It stands for Room Temperature Vulcanizing. Vulcanizing is the process of hardening a rubber-like substance, normally by heating (the term vulcanizing comes from Vulcan, the Roman god of fire).

Forjer, the bum, thanks for the explanation...was kind of lost
Can anyone post a link to some suitable RTV??

Don't worry about the RTV term. Get any silicon based sealant like for caulking around sinks and stuff.

The only thing that RTV really buys you is that it hardens as it sets up, whereas regular silicone sealant will stay more flexible. It might actually be better not to use RTV for that reason. I don't think regular silicone sealant will be bothered by engine temps, but I could be wrong.
In that case I have plenty of that.
Just a thought if heat was to upset it I could use an instant gasket silicon as that will withstand the heat for sure.

Here's how I've done it on my R90:

There is a couple of posts here now mentioning failure of the sensor. Are these far and few between? I'd sure like to hear someone chime in regarding the numerous flights they've had with their original sensor. I had everything in the online shopping cart but chickened out! Sure like to hear from some satisfied customers (with regards to reliability).
Thanks, Brad

Well mine failed after a couple of flights on my R60 / OS70. Stripped it out and bought some 'proper' sensors, not the **** that CSM supply.

Could you please send alink to the sensor you are mentioning? I'm tied of replacing sensors failing at first flight and paying 10$ for each.

Maybe a silly question but bare with me here as i'm new to this sport. How can you tell if your sensor is broken? does the CarbSnart show some sort of error light?

The sensor OK light turns off.
Well the lack of responses sure isn't confidence inspiring! kan.gok, can I ask as to how you are attaching the sensor?

My new 2 carbsmart sensors arrived today. I'm going to install them with a good arctic silver reinforcement like I mentioned at the end of the thread. (Like Bob suggested). We'll see later how they are gonna hold up this time.
Thanks! I missed that whole thread! For better or for worse I ordered mine yesterday. Would appreciate any updates. I'll go with whichever mod seems to work best.

Hi Bob,
Are you going to use a Carb Smart as well for your Trex 700? I'd like to see you set up a carb smart on a O.S. 91SZ. I'd like to see how it's done; being that I'm new to nitro and I'm just starting to realize how to tune nitro engines. With the O.S. 91 engines there are two (2) knobs there to adjust. I'd like to know where will you set the CSM Carb Smart arm on between the two knobs. BTW, Sorry if this is a newbie question and request.

Yes this is why I am trying a non-pumped SZ and using the carb smart. However I wont be going into the details of setup as I already showed that video here but I will just show my linkages. Later as I test and fly I will let you guys know what I wound up with.

Cool. I'll be looking forward to that then. Thanks. BTW, For O.S. 91 SZ Pump version would you still suggest getting a Carb Smart or it's OK with out it since this type of nitro engine got a pump and regulator? Hmm I don't think my question made sense huh???

What sensos are you using? post a link. It would be nice to find the sensors locally.
Is the sensor a NTC or a PTC?
Barry
P.S. please include a part#

Was thinking of getting one of these. Don't know as I truely need one, but I love playing with new gizmos anyway. I think that is one of the reasons that I enjoy RC heli's in the first place. Heaven knows it's not because I can fly them well. But that is another issue...
I was wondering about the mount that you used for the servo. I couldn't quite tell in the video, but does it interfere with getting to the glow plug? GrandRC shows another way to mount the servo and it says it leaves "easy access to the glow plug".
Has anyone tried this approach? Any thoughts?
