Seems sensible to start a new topic on this as ???s frequently crop up in other threads. General concensus is that they have good points and bad points, notable in the latter category is that you can get lazy controlling the tail, which on single rotor copters is a fundamental part of learning to fly them!!! However when you have progressed, they can be good for helping you keep the bird straight!! The stock pEsky costs £20 on flebay, and is pretty average [according to the experts] but not bad for the price. What other options do we have here?...................................

... and note that if you have one installed, you can still switch it off, even with the stock pEsky 0406a Tx!!!!!!.............

... and what of the Align RCE-550 Gyro? [Approx £30 on flebay], It's compatible with Futaba, Spektrum, but what about the stock pEsky 0406a?......

I used to fly esky giro's (both of them ) and now I am flying Telebee (think is the T-rex clone) but I have to say I still prefer the rate mode above the HHmode because in rate mode the heli feels more reel to me.

Hi Ber:) is the Telebee rate mode noticably better than Esky?

Reason why I started this thread is that I reckon I will fit one, but have it switched off part of the time - just wonder if it is worth payin the extra £10 on flebay for the Trex Align RCE-550 Gyro, if it is compatible, esp with the Tx?

It is noticably better in rate mode but in HHmode it is alot better than esky, surely worth the money imho, not as good as 401 but with those baby's I don't have any experience. I find them a bit expencive at the moment.

To helihatnofury
I fly the Telebee with the stock tx it works like a charme ,in HHmode it drifts a bit but you can trim that out

Esky Headhold Gyro holding rock solid, really i dont knwo what more you want than that for tail holding capability, holds just as well during foward flight and reverse flight and banking left to right, other than that you shouldnt be in HH mode anyways as you should be flying the nose and HH off.

Belt CP - Esky HH gryo on top

Exi 450 - Esky HH gyro on left side

Belt CP - Esky HH Gyro taking on 35mph Gusts (you can see the wind knocking it off course and the gyro correcting back to its original direction)

More than that i dont need and for 36 bucks ja its more than OK. If it wasnt holding for you then it simply wasnt set right.

Wolfy Is the rate function on the Esky HH gyro better than the stock EN02-0704 ?

Rate is rate.... works according to battery power... at a given point of battery life they will start to not hold as good but on full to 1/2 battery its solid.

Everyone should strive to learn in Rate mode and not depend on HH. HH has screwed me on numerous occations trying to fly circuits, gets a mind of its own sometimes as when you let go of rudder movements thats where it wants to stay and thats no good in turns.

I am still having problems with my set up of the pEsky HH gyro.

As Wolfie said, I put it on its side with the letters running up [fits nicely on the shelf where the right roll servo was], thye electrics are correct, and it all initiates as advertised. I get one of two scenarios:

1. a gain setting where in normal mode the tail whips around, but HH is steady,

2. a gain setting wher in normal mode the tail is nicely controlled, but in HH mode she does not keep the heading?

Any help here appreciated.

ps it doesn't help that the gain screw is awkward not only to see but also to adjust, and that there is conflicting information as to which way to turn it to either increase or decrease the gain!!!!!!!

pps. these bloody pEsky bits!!!!!! Sometimes, with the dosh i have spent on upgrades, spares etc, I wish I had shelled out for a Trex!!!!!!!

Thanks, Mike :arggg::arggg::arggg:
