Hi there, i got on both Birds (Knight and Rex600) the same components. An align 2 in 1 and JR Z9000S on cyclic and a HS-635HB on throttle. On the tail my knight has a Spartan + S9254 and the Rex has a Logictech Combo.

Now i read a lot about problems with the 2in1 and also about 8v. I never had so far any issues with the 2in1 but i just started with rolls so i am no 3d guy so far.

I am completely undecided about how to keep my setup. Should i go to 8v with spectrum regulator and keep 2in1 just for glow? Should i keep this combo till i run into probs?

Greetings

Max

I am not sure that waiting until you have a problem is the best course of action.

If regulator should fail, you have a large, powerful helicopter that would clearly constitute a danger to itself and others.

Not to mention that it could be quite expensive to repair if it succeeds in smashing itself.

Fromeco, Duralite, and others make good, high quality regulators.

To me, on board glow is simply fluff (admittedly I am in the minority, but I have no desire to use my reciever pack to light off my glow plug).

Duralite baby!!
I tried the 2 in 1, crashed. went back to Duralites and will never go back.
the weight of a 4400 flat pack balances things just about perfect too.

align sucks and is great. they offer good ideas to the public that are not fully tested. i have had 5 2 in 1 regs and i have had 3 fail for various reasons. only 1 of which caused major damage ( v1 wires fell out of head)
the v2 seems better but mine have a lot of glow issues, non of which did i have with the old remote glow plug.

oh and my take on 8v ... why? unless you fly in the ranks of the upper guys you don't need it. (if you did you wouldn't be asking) if you really want more speed bluebird servos .06sec on 4.8v or move your balls out further on the horn.

My balls are fine, thanks for asking. :)
I run my balls @ 31mm, same as the bellcrank spacing, plenty fast..

Well meybe you get me wrong on this. 6V is ok for me but with the 8V setup i would solve my amperage problem i might run into. Because the power would go directly to the servo the regulator in the 2in1 has much fewer work to do
