Hiya guys,

I ordered an EagleTReeV3 for my EP550CF. I'm getting two temp sensors... one for the packs, and the other for the engine, but don't think I can fit one to the engine.. I think you need a special engine sensor.. and I right?

I also ordered the RPM sensor... Optical... So, how do you guys recommend that gets fitted?

Also, where do you mount the LCD panel? Where it won't die in a crash? I'm having the RX pack removed, so that it's all powered from the main packs. The actual EagleTree will go where the pack was.. inside the frame.

Any tips and photos to help?

Look at the above thread...it has several pictures.....I now have mine mounted on the back stuck on a servo case (the panel that is) my ET is mounted up front under the esc on the left side.

Thanks.
OK, with the optical, what are the options for mounting the sensor? Can I point it any of the gears? And what should I use to pain the half white.. And, does it have to be exactly half, or just a small portion?

I mounted mine above the back gear and used a yellow electrical tape on my old black Gaui gear. On my new white Delrin gears I use a matte black paint. You should not have any reflection on a black coated area. You don't really need to paint exactly half of a gear. What you need is really good contrast. As written before the yellow tape worked great on black wheels... the white gear was much harder.

Thanks... You don't have a photo of how you managed to put the tape on the black gear do you? I just want to be sure I understand... Doesn't it come lose often? Where on the gear did you put the tape?

Hi!
I've uploaded some images there -> http://www.helifreak.com/showpost.php?p=559543&postcount=15
Bigger is better if you're using higher an headspeed!

Thanks!

So it looks like a small, maybe 1cm long bit of take on the top of the gear.. And this needs to pass under the sensor. I thought maybe half the gear had to be painted white somehow...

Seems OK. :)

The sensor is really close to the upper edge of the gear! There's more than enough space for a tape. I made it a little bit bigger, 1/3 of the gear because I had a few spikes at higher head speeds. Was just a quick solution because I had no white paint... worked out pretty well :)

This is my solution. Eagle tree is in the CF nose of the frame under the lipo. I have ESC cables going out the RH side, and the battery cables out the other side. Optical RPM sensor is seen mounted directly on the AFT main gear.

If you need, i can do some better photos.

That's a nice neat job there, Phoinix! I'm battling to see the sensor though... Is it visible in that shot? Also, have you painted half the gear, or how are you making the white/black contrast?

If i knew it was that hard to find, it would be a prize question :D

I painted half of the AFT main gear matt black (so there is very few reflections to bother the sensor) and the other half fluorescent green/yellow. It reflects much better and the sensor has much less inaccurate readings than with the black/white colour.

Thanks... OK, so I need to invest in black matt, and yellow paint? You can paint a black thing yellow without too many issues?

The sensor is well place. Nice and hidden. I'll follow your example. Thanks.

To be honest, you have to prime paint with white, to get propper bright yellow. I'm having great resoults white prime colour and than fluorescent paint.

For eagle tree micro logger itself, it seems the nose of this CF frame is made for it. It fits right in.

Phoinix,

Just noticed that you have changed to CF frame....
Do you mind to show us a photo of how you mount the micro logger?

Another question, how do you mount your ESC? with double sided tape?

I haven't changed to CF, this is my second hurricane :D Plastic frame, or senior as i like to call it, will carry agusta fuselage, and CF will do all the hard work :YeaBaby:

ESC is on double sided mounting tape, normaly used for mounting mirrors to the wall.

Here is micro logger, in the nose of CF frame. It is squeezed inbetween the CF bottom plate (had to trim it 3 mm) and front ALU fixing point. I added sone double sided mounting tape just for safety, if it will rub against the CF frame.

I removed the eagletree sticker, and placed it on the battery holder. Next to the sticker is a temperature sensor for the battery.

I took another photo, just for Cralis :) ...the RPM sensor.

Thanks man! That's a nice neat job! How's it attached?
Also, does anyone know if the temp sensor ring will fit on a Z20 engine, baring in mind the outer case spins?

It is simply attached inside CF frame and it won't move a milimeter if you mount it the way i did. The thing that is keeping it from sliding inside the frame is the four wires from eagletree. I have the ESC wires going out the RH side, and battery out the LH side, and it's enough to fix it's position. Be sure to wrap the wires in snake skin or sth. to prevent them from cutting on the CF.

I got the loop temperature sensor inside Z30, just under the coils, on the top of the motor mounting. You can see the two red wires going inside the Z30. Nothing rotates there, so it should be safe, and relatively accurate, as it is touching the motor through the whole loop.
