Looks pretty good LockMD, if not a little twitchy, but I'm sure you were a little nervous.

Damn, you have got nerves of steel, I have never hovered my Trex 600 in my backyard.

Good job, it feels good to fly something you built with your own two hands doesn't it.

Yeah twitchy indeed, nerves definetly but if some locals chime in (Eugene/Scolex) we are having a very windy weekend 40MPH gusts today so I like to think its more the winds and not me ;)

but you are correct, my nerves were shot after that. Maybe some better luck with winds tomorrow and will shoot another one a tad longer.

Sorry, I was not knocking you, I would have been nervous as hell too. You should have seen me shaking like a leaf after my first Trex 600 hover, those big blades are quite intimidating the first few times you see them spool up.

Anyway, good job and good luck, hope to see some more vids of that thing with better weather conditions soon. It has been quite windy here too all week, at least the 600 can cope with wind a lot better than the 400. How much is the all up weight of the E-Smart?

Oh no, did not take it that way at all - just making sure you new it wasnt ALL me, but lots was. I've seen your vids too, you are way above me.

Am I right in thinking its actually harder to go slow than zip around fast? Although I dont have the room or gonads to do it in my back yard was thinking of making a "how slow can you go" thread and we all could post our slowest vids instead of fast and zippy just to show how stable the bird really is......but that does get boring even in my back yard. BUt it might be encouraging for newbies too. When I first started I wanted to see SLOW so I know I could handle it, all the loops, rolls, and what not were intimidating thinking I could never do that......so slow might help some people's confidence too? just a thought.

Cool, I did not want you to think I was putting you down. I really enjoy talking to you all here and the mutual respect/help is great. And so are all the videos. I know you have seen my B400 vids, but did you see my first hover of the 600, not much different than yours, I could only take it for about 2 minutes, and then I think I went inside and had a beer, a shower, and a nap.

I think your flying is just as good or better than mine, how long have you been at it? I started in late January, and I have found this to be the best and most challenging hobby I have ever taken up.

NO I have not seen your 600 vid, post a link here.

I would have went longer than 2 mins but the winds just killed my nerves even with beers.

I started in October 2007 with a cx2 in two weeks cp pro, almost gave up. Too much money without reward. Then found the HBFP - cheapest and most fun to that date. Almost bought a HB king - but had the B400 on pre-order and they were both belt driven. Given the 400 was coming with an awesome radio I waited for it. And now have the E-Smart 600 (just starting) but am hopeful of good results. So, in about 6 months I have 6 helis ( oh bought a BL HBFP from someone in China ) Just paid off my credit card last month 4 thousand OUCH!! I am done for a while, will just learn to fly what I have now.

Here you go, here it is in all it's glory, my very first 600 hover, I'll warn you ahead of time it's not very impressive.

See, it's just like yours, except I had a lot more room, and I made a touchdown in the middle. I had just planned to spool it up, but then I thought to myself, F it.

Lock, I don't about where you come from, but what you were flying in... we don't call that wind, we call that a tornado around here.

Well done sd0.

LOL thanks Otto - I got it from Heli-direct kit with motor 200 bucks then I pretty much copied this guys' setup:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=714124

It took me just about a month - BUT it can be done way faster - 1) took my time, no hurry since having the 400 and 2) I was breaking parts before even in the air LOL

Once you have all you need and you were determined I'm sure you could put it together in a weekend if not even 1 day (of course if you know what your doing) I had to ask a TON of questions and even had some local hands on help. Still not sure its perfect but hey its in the air :)
