Ok, I did the whole CX, CX2 thing then bought a CP and didn't like it cause it was waaaaaay to twitchy. So I considered getting something bigger as it would be more stable. This is how I ended up with a Blade 400 I did my first function test with the other day and spooled it up into a low hover and was amazed at how stable it was, but very sensitive....... Now I was in my garage and I can honestly admit that it got the old ticker beating when that thing winds up when you are used to something much smaller.

A great heli.....!!

With Horizon releasing all of the upgrades now, what would you guys recommend as worthy upgrades?

hmmm worthy upgrades for you would be:
sim;)
time:)
patience:roll:
money

Worst thing you could have happen is a CF blade to the leg.

+1 on the sim.

Then I would upgrade the servos since they are suspect, and may have been the cause of some crashes.

Could not have said it better. I will add, get Phoenix for your flight sim. It will all pay off in the long run. I am just starting myself, but I did as he has suggested and so far doing well. One crash, but that was just pure stupidity on my part.

Welcome, take your time and you will enjoy it even more.

Servos Servos Servos, did I mention Servos?

And if you want to cut some of that twitchiness out up your expo to 20-30% most will disagree with me here but it worked for me. As you get better you can lower it. I prefer to learn with it then fight it and crash crash crash. Cant say for sure but am confident my way got me to this point with less cash on crashes. just my nickle.

Sounds like we are talking from experience? OUCH! I flew into myself with my HBFP cant imagine the B400 with CF blades.......did you need stitches?

AHAHAHAHAHA....YES I have RF and I have been working on it but it just doesn't seem the same when you have something to lose. When I first spun it up the thought of a rotor to the leg was FRONT ROW in my mind. I will try changing the expo....thx for the heads up.

What servos would you recommend?

RF? Reflex sim? me too.

You should fly the sim like its real, I started off like no big deal I'll just hit the reset button but now I act like I am loosing something it has helped a lot.

Servos, a bit pricey but worth it.....I have 3 ds285's on the cyclic and a 3400G on the tail, you can buy them in one pack for about 160

Like Lock said, when flying your sim, treat it like it is for real. I go though servo checks, make sure all works (not that I see it, just setting good habits). It was boring, but I started hovering in the sim and following Rad's school of flight. Yes, after I did my planned 15 - 20 minute practice, I would goof off some, but I always started off serious and did that a few times a day and it really helped.

I actually just read through the Radd flight school thing the other day at work (don't tell my boss).

The Simm is good I just don't get thet same feeling of "oooooh shit" like I do when I'm really flying. Maybe they should come out with a Taser version of the flight simm that shocks you when you crash.....make it all about consequences!!

While I'm asking dumb questions....what do you guys recommend for heli cases? I race offroad in the summer and want to take my heli with me so I can fly in the evenings. I have seen good and bad about the T-REX case, that was the one I was gonna buy, any suggestions?

I use the wing-tote fits perfect, I can actully fit the B400 and HBFP in it at the same time, also carries my tx and spare batts/chargers with room to spare. It's not metal but all sides are rigid.

My screw up was reversing servos in the menus while the heli was powered up. Yes, I hit the throttle one by mistake and Bam the thing starts going full blast. I had to grab the heli by the landing skids, hold it in the air away from me and pull the ESC wires with my other hand. Scared the crap out of me.
