Is this with stock 850 motor ? Won't headspeed be too low with 20T ?
check it today 850 KV stock motor with 22 tooth gear HS is 2650 no 3D also running 4S 3700 battery

run it up slow and leave it at a constant throttle...like 100% or a 85-100 V curve. Those gears can't handle agressive throttle increases, but are fine if the throttle stays constant and you just manage collective.
Is the lipton gear any better they ar about $15 at HD or will the new 130 tooth be better

no, they are all about the same. That small gear is a problem, which is why HD has changed their frame is is moving to a 130. By increasing it, you take a ton of load off the individual teeth. That's why the TRex uses 164 and flies circles around the HDX.
We will have to run 6S with the 130 right to get the right HS

5 or 6 depending on motor and pinion.
Scorpion 1400 on 5s/15T or 6s/13T
I still have my motor laying around from my HDX500SE. It is the 1050. If I decide to get the new frames and other parts, I will be running 6s and 16-18T depending on weight and performance. Plus, I am already heavily invested in 6s packs for the TRex, so I don't have much choice but go 6s.
I did test the motor out on my TRex over the weekend using the 164 main and a 20T pinion. The motor got really hot but everything else seemed ok. ESC and Lipos were just warm. Will just have to wait and see if that motor can hold up.
I have the new HDX 500 V2 it will take the 130 gear i have air thunder 2 3s in series it had a lot of power went to 1 4s 3700 no 3D like it better it is also better on the gear

My son , also on HDX500 but flying far more advanced than me , stripped a main gear with 100,85,100 V idle-up
I've got a Lepton gear in now - so far so good !
Will however go 130T as soon as I can get 1 ordered.
130T + 6S = 22 to 24 pinion
130T + 4S = 34 to 35T pinion
Any comments?

Found a hobby store in UK that stocks 30T to 35T mod 0.6 pinions . waiting for feedback from them

130T + 6S = 22 to 24 pinion
130T + 4S = 34 to 35T pinion
Pinion calculations have to include the Motor and efficiency. Hit readyheli.com and use their headspeed calculator on the left menu bar.

Yea I know about the motor and efficiency - did my calcs on Readyheli calculator for both the HDX (850KV ) and Hyperion Z3025 ( 815KV ) motors using the same efficiency , The Z3025 only for 4S.
It was merely for indicative purposes so that i could have some idea of pinion
I run the Z3025 with 4S , my son the HDX , currently 4S but wants to go 6S - His motor was bogging badly doing big loops on 4S ( in actual fact , it fell out of the sky )
V2 head but still suspected swash/cyclic bind
Now i see HD is coming out with a 140T will it be better or will we buy the 130 and 140 and give them a try i think so order mine today now for the motor gear 34-35 were to get it thanks guys

Working on the pinions , no response from UK yet . Will phone them tomorrow if I still has no answer

I won't be buying any frames or gears until HD gets it all straightened out.
