after sudden turns, and a couple of (mild) crashes
i tested the heli on the ground,

the tail servo,a 3154 turns slowly to the left without any stick input after a while.
this is in HH mode, and servo is in normal mode.

without moving the heli and giving some right stick, the slider moves right,
but it doesn't stay there as it should.
after a few seconds it turns slowly to the left again.
i didn't changed anything on the TX or the gyro.

any thoughts?

I've had similar problems with my 2100 and I have found that you have to be careful when you initialize the gyro. When you plug the batter into the esc, make sure you don't jostle the the hei and make sure you get the complete tones from the esc too. If it sill spins, then un-plug it and re-plug it again and see if that takes care of the problem.

I use the CSM gyros, and this is normal,in HH mode when the heli is on the ground. This is caused by the stationary helicopter not responding to the heading corrections requested by the gyro. In the absence of a response from the heli, the gyro continues to increase the servo command in an attempt to get the heli to obey. In flight it responds normally. Could be the logictec one behaves in a similar way.The GU210 that was supplied with my EP200 also does this, but it tends to drift quite badly, so its getting swapped out for a CSM 420e one

i knew of that, and i always be careful when i connect the battery.

it is not normal in HH mode. it should stay where i put the stick, not moving without reason to the other side after a few seconds.

the problem is it was working well until last week!!!! and it doesn't just drift, sometimes the tail makes sudden 180 turns.

I'm thinking maybe the servo is about to burn up?
the 3154 does that from what i read, but i don't know if that is a first symptom.

Ok, let me try another angle now that I am awake while reading your post original post.

When I had my problem, I found that the one of the gyro wires had the insulation rubbed off when it had come in contact with the outrunner motor. I used shrink wrap to cover the bare wire and I added a ferrite ring to the esc wire running to the radio. You might check for a similar problem and add a ferrite ring.

Had the same problem.

The very first setup step in the manual describes to "teach the gyro the receiver signals" (or something like that) Something about keeping the rudder stick to the left while powering up the gyro.

Try that, or try to change to digital servo setup.

i have no rubbed off wires, but it made me curious to ask about the ferrite ring.
why?
it seems my esc wire does touch the gyro wires.

i did that when i first installed the gyro.

i found the problem..... :Bliss
it's actually a gyro bug i think.

i upgraded recently to spectrum module/receiver.
i got a 6100 with firmware 1.6,
so, to keep the receiver led in a not blinking state when turning everything on,
i had to turn the receiver on first and then the transmitter.

every time i did this the tail servo moved slowly to the left !

but this doesn't happen when the transmitter is on first.
