500L gone bad

to start off the 500L motor has always had bearing noise (screeching sound) and from the threads i thought it was normal. i did all the static mods that are out.last weeek my heli acted like it had static,tail acting erratic, so i forked up and bought the g force static wik and plate. still acted up so i switched out the 500L for my unused 600L motor and all is fine plus no screeching from the motor. so my question is ,..how many have had their 500L gone bad already.

I had a crash with mine after about 6 flights and it wines alot now.
I think its the bearings.
I will swop it out soon..

I get some wierd noises from my motor at certain rpm's but as long as it flys ok then im not going to worrie too much until it fails then warranty claim or a scorpian motor either will satisfy me...

Mine was DOA.:arggg: Heavy screeching and vibration at the 75-100% range. I tested the motor out of the heli, and it would get extremely hot and the vibration was so bad that I could not hold the motor. The sound was loud. I installed it in the heli for testing with the main blades off. The tail support rods vibrated like a string being plucked on a guitar. I contacted Modefos Hobbies for a warranty replacement. Sent it in on a Monday and got it that same week on a Friday.:thumbup: The new motor doesn't vibrate like the old one, but at about 60% throttle, the high pitch sound shows up for about a second then goes away. No vibration at all thought the throttle range. I tested my Scorpion HK-3026-1600KV, and wow what a difference.:noteworthy No vibration, and is super quiet. All you hear is a nice hum and lots of air moving through the motor.:smokin: My suggestion, is contact the store you bought it from for warranty work. Oh, and you could pick up a Scorpion as a spare while you wait for warranty work;)

Today i noticed my 500L started to sound louder at idle up this motor is about 25 flights old. I thought maybe it was the main gear makeing this noise, pulled the motor and ran it sure enough the motor at high rpms sounds real loud & vibrates real bad and it smells like some thing burning it gets real hot.

I think its the bearings going out im giveing align usa a call tommorrow to get this replaced.:arggg:

i bought a scorpion1600 motor made a plate for under the motor mount to get the right hight for the 13 tooth pinion .then i flew it ..i can tell you it is VERY smooth 100 rpm more than stock motor, consistant power and with my smooth 3d style it is unboggable.NICE..i lost an average of 15 seconds flight time but it is way more effiecient than stock with a plus ..motor temps didn`t go over 102. i was going to try it on 14 tooth but the way it flys now there`s no need, unless your an insane headspeed 3d freak:thumbup:. this was a real nice upgrade.

my new, used 500l motor runs much much hotter than my old one. my old 500L's motor case came unscrewed in flight overheated and I think the bearing was bad so I sent it in for warranty. I am borrowing someone else's motor and it is really hot. I am flying the same as I was before, but it is 20 deg hotter outside. my motor was cool to warm, and now it is to hot to hold my finger on, don't know what happens?

i tried the 14 tooth on the scorpion 1600 ,i like it :thumbup:this thing is wicked fast... no bog unlimited power. if this motor can holdup to this kind of abuse then we got a real winner. 3.45 minutes motor temps were 124, batteries were 113:YeaBaby:.nice for the speed freaks but like i said before i fly smooth so the 13 tooth is perfect for me...i think:thinking
