Hi,
My Hurricane arrived yesterday morning. :)
One of the carbon brackets that hold the body retainers was broken during travel :(... but no big deal.
Since the JR servos came with no wheels and no rubbers, I'm a little stuck.
I only installed the tail servo (on the boom).
One thing : I noticed that the aileron levers are very close to the Z20A motor, I had to put a little washer between the lever and the frame ("washer", is that right ?... a little flat round thing with hole in the middle, you know...) and the levers are still only 1 millimeter away from the motor...
Anyone else had this problem ?

I'm in the middle of building mine with a z20a, had the same issue. I shortened the screw with a dremel so it doesn't stick out the back of the arm as much. Only 1 or 2 mm of clearence there, if it becomes a problem a gearset with a larger front gear would push the motor forward a bit.

I just put a CFS kit together and got it flying (well sort of, but that's another issue)
If you can get the JR servo wheels, they are predrilled and just happen to match the bellcranks. I ended up using the over sized servo arms and using the wheels as a template to drill the arms.
Check the length of you tail boom. My CFS kit came with a short tail boom. If yours is like that you will only want to run 500 blades. I have 550 blades and it's close. (I'm converting to the long boom soon.)
You will want to get the 20T OWB. The 19T will eventually slip and that will not be good.
Other than that, watch the Finless videos. I've had 0 problems with the cyclic. The only problems I have had have been with the TR. I'm going to modify my tail adn put the Raptor 50 grips, hub and bearings on. I'm tired of messin' with it.

instead of the raptor hub/grips/bearings.. this works as well..

Does the hub fit the Gaui TR shaft? (Which I believe is 5mm) It certainly looks more substantial then the Gaui parts.

supposed to be a direct replacement part

Check for the best tail mod ever:
http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=60901&highlight=cheap+tail
You can basically use the complete Raptor 30 tail box, shaft and slider as well as tail rotor holders, any of the cheap plastic Raptor parts can be used or any metal aftermarket parts designed for the Raptors. (Even Kasama)
The problem with the Align parts is that it still only has one roller bearing and one thrust bearing which leads to slop. All the Raptor parts have two rollers and a thrust bearing making it indestructible!!!!!!!!!!!

The Raptor 30/50 mod gets expensive when you get the bearings. It's not as expensive as the Gaui CNC TR hub and blade grips though. I'll look at the TRex 600 TR piece when I get it.
The tail is the only thing that's really causing me any heartburn. Other than that, everything is working great.
I'm also wondering if I have been attaching the blade grips to the slider incorrectly. It's supposed to be leading edge control right.

yeah their leading edge. i still had tail wag after installing the plastic thrusted grips. i pulled them to bits and put them back together in the order of bearing, thrust washer with large hole, thrust bearing[with exposed balls facing tail shaft],thrust washer with small hole last.no more wag......

I just realized that the boom (and belt, of course) that came in the kit is the short one. And the spare boom and belt I ordered in the same time are long...... bummer.

I did the same thing, with two extra belts and booms.. and then to top it off, I got two more 550mm extra sets of wood blades lol. :(

I was wondering why the measurements for the CF heli listed at flying hobby was 1000mm length.. compared to the 1060mm length for the plastic kit...guess I'll stretch mine when I need to replace a boom.. looking at the parts needed (boom, belt and TR push rod), that would be about $15 in parts..seems kind of silly that they'd make the CF kit short boomed as it does limit the blade size a bit...might as well call it a hurricane 500 at that point...

I hear ya.. they really are more like a 500 than a 550, but i'm likin' em.
Hmm.... maybe stretch my 450 to a 550 and throw a spare hurri canopy and skids on it? :banana:lol::banana
