I stepped it up a bit today. Ran through 8 packs and decided that I wanted to put some flights on video to review to see what I needed to work on. Well, I knew full well since it was recording, it was likely I would end in a crash. I did not dissappoint :). Anyway, here is my attempt at some "Madd3DzZ"

Who said you cannot do 3D with 335mm blades :)

Starting around 5 mins is the second flight I recorded. I am zoomed in a little more so it is easier to see the heli.

Very cool.

How long do you wait between packs? Amazing how well your hatcam works. Is there an image of it up here?

Sorry about the crash. How bad is the damage? Newbie has to ask, what do you mean by "Dumb Thumb"?

I will probably never try 3D for I can barely see the heli, much less keep up with the orientation.

sparx that was some good flying, I wish I could do half of that, but I'm still just learning some basic FF.

Dumb Thumb = should have zigged but zagged his brain says go this way but the thumbs do the opposite.

Dumb Thumb is when you see what the heli is doing, you know what you want it to do, but for some reason the signal never gets from brain to thumb (well finger-thumb in my case, I fly pinch).

I have 5 packs I use. The field I fly in is across the street. As long as it takes me to walk back from the field to my garage, swap packs and then walk back over is about how long I wait most of the time. I might take a "smoke break" depending on how I was flying and how much I am shaking :).

I have not taken any pictures of my HatCam. It is just a $99 Sanyo digital Camera I got at Walmart. I drilled a hole into an old baseball hat and then screw the camera to the hate with a 1/4 bolt into the Tripod mount. That camera had some "white-balance issues", meaning it would change the white balance in jsut the slightest bit of sunlight so much that it would "washout" the video. To fix that, I picked up a pair of polarized clip on sunglasses and mounted one of the lenses over the Cameras Lens.

I do not like to toot my own horn guys, but I have only been flying Helis since July '07. I used to fly planes about 15 years ago. I have spent ALOT of time on Phoenix to get to where I am right now. And I mean ALOT. Once you get your mind to understand that the sim and the real things are damn near the same, you will progress alot faster.

Cali maybe warm, but my wallet is empty :)

That is an awesome idea for the washout - will have to do that.

Well there is getting to be enough of us local boys we can take up a donation and you can teach us all :YeaBaby:

Seriously, very impressed with your flying abilities. I should be using these windy days to get more time on the sim instead of taking stupid risks (I just cant help it)
