My Phoenix sim came, and WOW is it awesome. I can't imagine learning forward flight and nose-in hovering without it.

I flew the real big helis in the sim, and OMG they are soo much easier to fly than the Blade 400. If we can master the Blade 400, then we will be able to fly anything.

Just in case you do not already have it. http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=69672

You guys SUCK!

where is all the support for REFLEX?

guess I bought the wrong sim :(

Still, I think its a good trainer, but......

all I know is this Phoenix sim feels just like my real heli. I've progressed so far in just a couple days with this sim, I'll be going from hovering tail-in last week to 3D next week.

I think flying fixed wing planes in the sim and in real life is helping me a lot. It really helps you get the feel of how the heli should fly in fast forward flight. Makes you learn to coordinate your turns with the rudder and ailerons properly. The Pitts biplane is so much fun.

I would let you fly mine, but you know I have my rudder backwards.

I am sure if the shareware versions were all someone had, it would help. Just getting the concepts down. Phoenix made my life easier. If I ever get into 3D, it will save some serious $. I need to get back to using the sim at least 15 - 20 mins a night and plan my next steps, once I get my power problem resolved of course.

Cool thing about the sim and your DX6i? You can set up a plane profile in your Tx and paly around when you want to do something different, or like you said, fly one of the scale heli's. I love the pontoon (sp) helis myself. :YeaBaby:

Going to see if anyone is online if you're around Lead. Heck, maybe you're already up there.

Can you go online in Reflex Lock?

G4 users do that too.....not sure doubt it :( I havent played with it much other than practicing to see if it can or not. I keep telling myself to get more sim time and end up getting more stick (real) time.....not a good way to learn....but so far so good, sure I would progress faster if I get more sim time though.

Ooh I forgot about online mode. That's gonna be sweet! My wife is learning how to fly a plank at the moment, but when she's done, I'll go online. How do I know what server to go into? (edit) nevermind that question, there's only like one server running right now LOL.

HAD the owner of a LHS tell me of his conversation with a VERY popular web lhs about the revenue potential of upgrades and repairs. The LHS owner states the flyers want ahelicopter, not a 3D machine. 98% of heli owners burn out after 8 years and the last 2% leave due the stresses of marketable helis. What I want is a machine (probably a large CX2 outdoor version) to fly outside after the very stresses of TRYING to fly a 3D machine. Why do forums exsist except to deal with flaws of products that fly? Just give us a reliable flyable machine to relax with and they will be the next "Guitar Hero"! People have a natural relationship with things that fly and HOVER.

I can certainly understand - trying to learn on this 3D heli is very nerve racking. I wouldn't be able to learn forward flight without the simulator, or crashing my heli twenty times. But I like the challenge of a difficult heli. I would be bored with anything easier, and I can't wait to do 3D.

I can understand that not everybody is into 3D, though. Maybe there is a market for an easy large heli like a big CX2 type. The big helis are much more docile, particularly the scale helis. You should check out one of the bigger helis. I'm sure someone here on Helifreak could suggest a good stable one.

For me, I find the B400 to be that machine. Yes, it will do 3D, but right now I am just happy to hover it. My goal right now is to learn precisionflying or scale flying. If I never go 3D, so be it. I am sure, since I dabble on the sim I may venture that way some day, but right now, I just want to be a pilot, and I personally feel the B400 allows me to do that very well. I have run many RC cars and one other RC heli and this has to be the best built machine I have ever tinkered on.

I would tend to agree that some would get board with a more docile machine. Part of the fun is learning and the ability to fix your mistakes. I remember when racing R/C cars this was the case. I always wanted a faster more powerful car. I topped out with a 4WD belt driven Kyosho car and got out of the hobby for several years, now i'm back into it, only with Helis now. I would; however, tend to guess that there would be a gap in the market that could be filled by such an outdoor machine as the CX2 in a larger scale as I enjoy flying mine inside.

There is no reason you cannot turn a Blade 400 into this very type of machine. Drop a 9T pinion on the motor. Install some 335mm blades. Lower your thorttle curve so you are running at 2300-2500 RPM. This can be done with any heli for that matter. This turns the Blade 400 into a very smooth and relaxing heli to fly around.

People have an EXTREME mis-understanding of Headspeeds. You DO NOT need 3000 rpm to fly these things. Slower headspeeds make these helis less twitchy and very relaxing.
