aluminum trex 450 tail

i won a aluminum tail off of evil bay. i went to install it, and had to change out the bad belt it came with. o removed the set screw that holds the grips, and center on the belt shaft, but it doesn't come off. the stock one just fell off when the set screw was loosened. i'm thinking it must have some lock tight, or ca keeping it tight. i mean pressed on tight. i'll add some heat to it with my soldering iron, and see if that brakes it loose. any ideas anyone?

Can you just get the front plate and shaft assembly out without taking the blades off and put the belt on from the back??:confused:

i did that, but it was a royal pain in the a**.
