In the infinite wisdom of this forum...has anyone figured out a solution to the play that develops between the main shaft and the main bearings?

My 600 is on its third gallon and the play is getting a bit too noticeable for my liking.

I built it with the align metal blocks so I still have the original bearings brand new never installed to use.

thanks
Eric

are you sure its not the inner race of the bearing moving, and not the main shaft in the bearing. the fit between the bearing and mainshaft should be a tight but easily adjusted fit. I highly doubt their is play of the mainshaft in the inner race of the bearing itself.

I'll investigate that more this afternoon as I'm not real sure. There is a very noticable click as well as a back and forth movement if you hold the head in one hand and the frame in the other. The bearing blocks are tight to the frame and it doesn't appear that the bearings are worn out. I had read in another thread that someone had thought the main shaft was undersized vs the inner race of the bearing or vise versa.

I confirmed what I had read elsewhere on the site. Yes, the Align main shaft is a tad bit under sized. Measured with calipers at 9.95 mm compared to one of my MA shafts at 9.98 mm....both the Align bearings and MA bearing measured out exactly the same. Interesting observation on the bearings, the Align inner races are nearly three times the thickness of the MA bearings.

So...is there any way to tighten it up???????????????????

By the way, I installed the Align CNC metal flybar holder and Quik UK washout this afternoon. Those two eliminated about 99% of the slop in the head...it's a pretty darn tight setup now not counting the main shaft play. Was really hoping to test it out today but it was too windy this evening as a front is moving through with snow tonight and tomorrow.
DARN weather..April 21st and its snowing :thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumbdown::thumb down::thumbdown:

dont know whats wrong with yalls heli's but their is not slop in my head (even after 9 gallons of fuel and 3 crashes) and no play in the mainshaft (all thought all of my bearings have been replaced w/ abec3 quality bearings).

I've got the same problem. Tried 2 different (new) mainshafts, new bearings, metal bearing blocks.

Still have it.

When i push and pull the head fore and after, I get a click everytime.

The shafts that I have are undersized: 9.95 where it should be 10.00 in my opinion. So the problem is NOT the bearings, it's the shaft !

When i try to insert a raptor main shaft, it fits perfectly: no slop at all and the click is gone.

I guess i'll just have to leave it that way, doesn't bother me when I'm flying. I don't like this though...

Looks like a prime opening for KAsma or Quik Uk to start offering true 10mm main shafts for the 600.

Any mileage in using a little green Loctite in this area to stop the mainshaft play?
