About 2 months ago, I got my lipo batts delivered.
They just don't have a kick like the original Nimh.
The rotor rpm doesn't get anywhere near what the Nimh could do on a full charge.

I was thinking about going with a ~1000 to 1500 Mah 11.1v lipo.
I'm sure flight time would increase and the power would be sick.

How many people have done this with good results?

Thanks!
Mike

I've heard that some peeps run the standard esky 4 in 1 with 11.1 and have good results except for the tail motor which burns up. Solution get a good heat sink. Think the HDX 300 heat sink (http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=30_303_304&products_id=1508)not the cheap esky heat sink. I don't know about the weight of a 1000 and 1500 may be way too heavy. think smaller. in the batt size. 11.1 should make crazy power. you just don't want to use all that off the hook power lifting the battery.

I stuck my 11.1v 1000mAh LiPo from my HBK II in my HBFP once, mega power :wow2: but yeah, you'd burn through tail motors at an unbelieveable rate, even with dual motors they won't last long, you'd prob be better off using a higher mAh 8.4v battery or better motor. And if nothing less make sure you do the fuse mod on both motors so that in a crash it doen's instantly fry the 4in1

I run 7.4v 2S 800mA and 11.1 3S 800's and it seams to running great so far. 8 hours of flight time so far including a few 15 minute non-stop flights with a 3S 1200mA. Perhaps I've been lucky...

Yea, I live in Jefferson County Colorado 6600' and fly a HBFP with superskids and use a Common Sense 11.1 V 800mAh battery with great success. I can get about 10+ minutes out of the battery with plenty of power to fly at this attitude.

dont do it. the tail motor cant handle the additional voltage and quickly burns out.

Is that the stock tail motor or even the DD tail motor that everybody uses?

I use an 800mah 11.1V batt in mine - came with cp pro.....funny thing is the tail on the cp pro would burn up very quickly 3-5 flights - I have well over 50 flights on my HBFP still have the orig motors.

well even though I said it wasn't a good idea to run a 11.1v, I take that back cause its soo much fun, but you really need to know how to fly the HBFP before you can really have some fun, I recently bought 5 7.4v 800mAh's and they work good, but sure ain't the 11.1v, been flying with it for too long, but most of my flying is done in FFF so I don't have to worry about over working my tail motor, which is actually holding up very well.

Heat sink the tail motor! Made one, xtra large. That sucker can run at 160 or better so ya gotta keep it cool. Original motors still at 12 to 14 flights so far, plenty of power with 11.1V, 800mah. I am presently working on a super small fan for the main motor, gotta watch the amps though. Got it down to around 30ma, no more then an LED would use. If you can keep those suckers cool they will last a long time. Is this fun or what? :Bang
