Questions for the experianced..

I have a razor e set up as follows

NEU 15152y
HV 85
fut 611
fut 9550 servos
Western robotics 5amp bec

Problem i have is this

since fitting the bec (which is soldered to where the battery terminals connect to the HV85) 2 times when flying constant high current drawing manouvers eg tick tocks the machine has shut down and fell out of the sky.

What i have noticed is that the head speed seems to hunt a little (which it doesnt any other time) and then shuts all power off, motor and radio.

when i have run over to the machine the speedy AND the bec and not hot ?

My thought was with all digital servos and the gyro running of this BEC it cant handle the spikes in current draw and shuts off, and my dx7 goes into fail safe which would of course shut the motor off.

when it has crashed onto the ground i have quickly disconnected the battery so im not sure if the radio gear is working still or not.
When i get it back to the bench for all the onlookers to check out and plug in a pack it all works again.

This is twice the same thing has happened with the same result !

Luckly the razor is extreamly tuff and only seems to suffer a broken landing leg , bent main shaft and broken canopy, NOTHING else

Thanks for your input guys

Hey Dale

It might pay to put the eagle tree onto the bec to check out what is happening. This might show something?

5A is possibly not enough. What voltage does the BEC supply? What servos (including tail) are you running?

Will,

Its a 5amp western robotics unit

servos on swash are futaba 9550
tail servo is the standard one for a 611

im just going to swap it over for a reg and put a higher HV speedy on it

Hopefully this sorts it out

Thanks Dale

Since you didn't say... if you're running 6s or possibly 8s when you pull the big amps the pack voltage drops low enough to cause the esc to go into protection mode and shut the bird down. This was happening on my friends trex 600e with FP EVO25 6s5000. Learned what was happening on the third time when he flew it with an eagletree onboard.

im useing a 10s 3700MAH pack

this issues is happening within 1 minute of flight, so its not like im running the packs down and having a voltage drop and a receiver reset.
