is it ok to have the tail case bearing have a little sound?
the sound is like having two ball bearing hitting. Is the bearings no good or do i need to grease them or something?
also the tail case bearing, how do i take them out or do i need to change the whole tail case. the sound is coming from the gear mushroom. i get the click sound after i spin the tail blades with my hand.
thanks for the help!

Are you sure it's the bearing? Is this a torque tube or belt driven tail? If it's a torque tube, make sure the gear that's in the tail case (not the one on the tail rotor shaft) is pushed in all the way. I've had to push mine in both times I had to replace the tail rotor shaft.
Failing that, you can just take the tail case apart to find the culprit. If you have to replace a bearing, you'll have to disassemble the tail case anyway.

i have a tt and ran my heli for about 3 gallons. had a tail strike and redo build.
the sound is the bearing. i have the tail case on the boom without the tt and the sound is coming from the bearing. like a rattling sound from the balls. i free spin the tail blades and the sound is coming from the bearing.
is this ok to run as is or need to replace tail case..also from before how do i take out the bearing from the tail case?

Just to be clear, are you talking about the bearing on the gear or the two bearings on the tail rotor shaft? If it's the gear bearing, I'm not sure. At the very least you'll have to pull the gear out of the case to get access to the bearing. I'd start by removing the two side plates and disengaging the tail rotor shaft gear. Then turn the gear in the tail case by hand. If it feels notchy, the bearing is bad. If not, I'm going to reiterate my suggestion that you push the gear further into the tail case. If the gear mesh is not just right, the movement is pretty loud and rough and could be mistaken for a bad bearing.
